I just got an add in the mail from Banks in regards to their Techni-Cooler kit. It comes with an intercooler, their high-ram manifold, mandrel-bent boost tubes and required hardware for installation.

The add claims that this system gains "up to" +40-60 hp and +130-140 torque. Can those numbers be true if this system were installed on a stock engine???

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this system on their 2003 or newer truck and if they can say it gave them that much of a power increase.

I've looked through this site for info and only could find where guys would say they noticed a reduction in their egt's, but no one claimed a power increase to that of +40-60 hp and +130-140 tq.

I don't have a problem with egt's, but am looking to safely increase hp and tq. Is this system worth investing in?

 

Those numbers are when added to the rest of the Banks kit. The intercooler itself doesn't add HP, but it keeps the temps down enough that the 6-gun or other system can safely add more power due to lower EGT's, it also gives you better airflow from the bigger cooler and larger tubing. I don't think it will do much if anything to a stock setup.

 

The Banks IC does not have inside Turbulators like the stocker,it will lower Cruising EGTs,Actually the stock Turbo has more lag with the Banks IC.I could not justify selling them for HP gains without other upgrades,We promote the Banks IC to Lower EGTs.Most commercial Pullers like the Banks IC for that Reason.

 

Ahh....thanks guys. I didn't think i'd really see that much of a power gain with a stock setup. Banks should be a little more clear on those adds.

The Banks intercooler will also handle a lot more boost than the stock one. But there are other intercoolers out there that are just as good and probably cheaper
