Unhappy Banks exhaust

Those that are running the Banks exhaust....does anyone have a drone with this exhaust???

Any feedback re: the Banks exhaust would be appreciated!

While I had the Banks muffler on my truck I did not have any drone. The muffler was too loud under load though. The Banks muffler I have includes an expansion chamber to kill the drone. Their earlier muflers did not have the chamber and some people did have a drone problem.

Whats a drone? Sounds like some kind of space alien or something...

There's a little feedback in the cab at certain RPM's, low tone that matches the RPM and happens more as I accelerate then while holding speed. If that's the dredded drone, I got it now.

I think it sounds great, Banks muffler and all, in fact I was expecting it to be a little louder than it is. Of course, I kept my kitty in tact, which may muffle the sound a little more. Im happy with mine

NyukX3 -

I definitely get some drone under hard acceleration and around 2300 RPMs. But for some reason it is getting less noisy, or I'm getting used to it! I've had it on there since about 800 miles (now about 3,300 miles). If I had to do again though, I probably would have saved a bunch of $ and just put on a Magnaflow muffler!

I called Banks and they say that the short beds may have a drone, but the long beds that had a drone were very rare. Since I have a long bed that is good! I have called some advertisers on the forum and they all seem to say the same thing...Long bed = no drone!

Any other Banks exhaust users out there? I need help!

I think all the exhausts have the drone. It's inherent in the diesels. Some of us just aren't bothered by it.

Right RMB. That's because they quieted it down so you couldn't hear the normal exhaust sound(drone). Once you make the truck louder, you start to hear it more.

I have the magnaflow exhaust and yes it does drone at the 2,000 rpm and more so when pulling a load,I've gotten used to it but at first it was loud. That said my biddy has the same exhaust and he also put a ressanator( know that the wrong spelling) tip on it and the drone is all most gone compleatly

The wife would be first to complain about too much noise, and she thinks its fine. My neighbor has a Gen 2 and when he rattles by, shes made the comment she glad its not that loud.

The only time we really here it is when we're heavy on the pedal, or if the windows are down and even then I think it sounds great!!!

Just curious, but why would the short bed make a difference?

I have the banks - and a long box. Definate loud spot around 65 to 75mph under heavy load, and louder than stock exhaust at those RPM/s. But if you push it you can get growl at lower RPM's also. Not sure if it is the dreaded 'drone', but hey, the engine is working hard. Sounds like a diesel truck, eh?
