Baldwin 2micron filter and Water Sep

OK, here's the way I assembled my remote filtration and water separater along with pics and hardware. First off, I use 2 Baldwin FB1311 Filter Bases, a BF1259 Water Separator, and a BF7587 2micron filter. Since the Baldwinn bases are threaded 7/8-14UNF, I had to get the adapters at a local hydraulic hose fabricator. I needed 2ea 7/8-14 to 1/2NPT 90 elbows for the in and out ports along with 2ea 1/2NPT to 3/8 hose barb. For the base connectors, I used a male and female 7/8-14 to 10JIC swivel. The mounting base is just a piece of 1/4" flat stock that measures 3.75" X 12" with holes drilled to accomodate the 3/8-16 Stainless bolts and washers. The filter base has 4 of these holes per base. You can see by the length if the filters that I want them up as far as I can get them. I will probably use the seat mount bolts to attach the assembly but I want to wait until I do the dynamat so I can have a better view of the upper and lower areas at the same time. I may change the barb fittings for a 1/2NPT hose, or depending on the orientation of the assembly, just go with a straight input and output type of fitting. All that will work out once I weld the additional mounting piece(s) on the flat stock. But the long and the short of it is, it's just a modified version of the nice one that carl48 worked up.

You certainly got the BIG **** filter setup!

The BF1259 is a cross for the FS1000, a 10um absolute and 95% free/emulsified water separating filter. Excellent choice, Baldwin makes great f/w sep filters! Their specs are usually 99/96.5 for the one that cross to a Fleetguard.

The BF7587 is the cross to the QR-0749, and 4um at 99.2% (multipass), and approx 6um single pass. Lots of filtration media on that baby!

Yeah, like daddy always said, go big or stay home! BTW, finally got the gauge buzzing squared away. I relocated the gauge tap from the CP3 banjo fitting to the banjo on the bottom of the OE fuel filter housing. It's a straight -3AN run to the gauge and I carry a true 7psi at operating RPM.

Are you going to bypass the stock filter/WS unit?

No Sir! The more filtration, the merrier Seriously, there is no reason, that I know of, to remove the factory set-up. As carl48 points out in his posts, they've been using the stock set-up with the additional filtration with no issues.

What threw me were the mounting holes are on the top of the filter base. I was all ready to slap the assembly up on the seat mount bolts and realized that I had to add an additional piece of angle iron to allow for clearance. Once I get this mocked up and installed I'll post the bracket dimensions.

Nice, looking at doing more filtration like you when i add my Airdog .I have this idea that i would like to mount the Airdog with filter inside my bed tool box behind the cab on my 2007 Mega DRW(lots of room + i have a tonnue cover)----Basically to protect everything from the elements----A few years back i saw a guy driving with his FASS mounted on a flatbed behind the cab, only concern is will the pump be Ok mounted above the tank pulling fuel this high up plus the additional filtration or better to just put on the frame.DW

dweiler it will give all kinds of headaches with the airdog, they are notorious for air locking. run the fuel through the pump before the filters

Thanks for the info----so it still OK to mount the Airdog +Additional filters(Sur5er idea/set up) in the bed(toolbox)-----just Airdog first, then additional filter set up, then plum though to the stock canister, then CP3.Hope this works as i am still trying to get ideas---no rush though(spring/summer)as i"m still collecting parts.PS ----Wish list would be a Hellman Fuel Sump mounted to the bottom of a Transfer Flow 56 gallon fuel tank+Airdog+extra filters.
