Backwards muffler??

Anybody put their muffler on backwards on purpose? For example the FBD muffler has directional tabs that are pushed up through the length of the muffler and when installed correctly these tabs catch exhaust as it flows through which is where the quiet comes from (I assume). If installed backwards the exhaust would flow over the tabs more freely and not get caught. Would this make it much louder? Does this make sense?

Currently my CTD is straightpiped, but speaking through experience, For example, if you have a Cherry bomb, and you turn it backwards from the directional flow, it just makes it louder, it is not a noticalbe difference in flow. but that was always on N/A gassers.

Yes, a friend of mine purchased a 5" system with the same type of muffler. With it on correctly it sounded like a school bus and he didnt like it. Tried it backwards and it sounded like it had a hint of tin can. We then took a piece of 5" pipe and put it the muffler covering 1/2 the baffles and tack welded it in place. It sounded real good but he said there was too much drone in the cab so he gave up and got the 51" Donaldson.

I would just get a Donaldson straight flow through muffler. Good sound and as much flow as a straight pipe.

yeah I put my muffler on backwards by accident...sounded horrible and power was off. I was quite happy to have the old system off that I slapped together the new system and didnt pay attention to which direction it was supposed to go.

Not the brightest thing i've ever done.

Well, our testing has shown that they release more units of horsepower when the decal is visible to spectators.

We couldn't get away for more than a few days for Spring Fling, so we postponed our Minnesota trip until July (probably 2nd or 3rd week) in order to spend more time there... looking forward to getting together with y'all!
