Attuitude

Hey guys, My dealer doesn't want to see a box on my truck and I was looking at the Edge Juice wit the Attuitude. My question is if I get this setup and I take the Juice off before a trip to the dealer is there a way to hook the monitor up to read more than just the pyro without the juice? I can't take the monitor out also because of the pyro probe. Seems like they would know that I wouldn't spend that kind of money just to monitor pyro temps. Maybe some of you can help. Thanks..LCH

You could tell them that it's a set of digital gauges and you'd be telling the truth.

Personally, I'm not a fan of trying to hide modifications from the dealer, but that's just me.

just keep going to other dealers until you find one that is cool with aftermarket performance.

They cant prove that you are using the tuner, just tell them you got it for digital gauge monitoring. You tow heavy crap and you want to make sure your truck stays in paramaters.

Dealers, Don't care if you have a tuner until DC won't pay them for "warranty work". I bombed my truck and took it to the dealer. They were po'd at me more for not buying their bullydog stuff than having a box. Once I showed them the difference and the egt security they were ok and I never had a warranty refusal. They are still trying to sell me a Crazy Larry but I question their reasoning. I went through 7 ujoints in the last 6 mos of warranty. They even grouped claims so I only paid 2 deductibles as they should have replaced them all but didn't have stock and I was always on the road. If they would have refused warranty on the u-joints I would have done them myself. 40k later I'm getting rid of all the DC u-joints and ball joints and will be hopefully good for the next 100k or lifetime. You play, you pay, I don't plan on sneaking around to save a buck here or there. I won't mod my truck in any fashion that does not give me performance that lasts and lasts. I've already lined up a 2005 engine when and if this one goes at hopefully 400 or 500 k miles. ks.

i am sure they are familar enough to tell that the attitude moniter is associated with a performance module. if they want to find it they are going to. i hate to say it but i think hoss may be right, honesty is the best way to go.

Well you cannot remove the Juice and still read the EGT on the Attitude. The pyro sensor is connected to the Juice module and not the Attitude. The Attitude is just a controller/monitor for the Juice module. So if you remove the Juice, you will have a pyro sensor going to nothing and a performance module controller in the Cab going to the same nothing. But you knew when you installed the Juice/Attitude that you potentially voided all or part of your engine and drive train warranty. right??

The last time I talked to my service rep, I asked him what would happen to my warranty if I installed a box. I specifically asked if I would lose all my warranty, just my drive train warranty, or only what was caused by a box. His answer made a lot of sence. He said "If we trace the problem back to your box, then it will void the warranty. However, if we cannot trace it to your box, your warranty will cover the repair(s)." He also informed me that he and another service rep have 2500's with the Edge Juice/Attitude combo. I guess I can't ask for anything more than that...

Like I said "potentially". Some dealers are more forgiving than others, but I would guess if DC/Star inspects the damage on major engine or drive train problems, then warranty is problably toast if a performance mod is detected.

That, in a nutshell, is what the Magnusson-Ross Act allows them to do.

If you noticed in my post the word see is in bold therefore I'm not sneaking or doing something dishonest. I told them I wanted to put a box on it and they said they didn't want to see one on it when it came in. It was just a question to understand how the montior works because I don't have one yet. There is a dealer about 70 miles or so from me that doesn't care if you mod but I'd like to continue to use my local dealer because I like my service dept so far. And if they asked me point blank if I had the box on or not I certainly wouldn't lie, a lie is a lie no mater what the subject and I don't want this thread to turn into an honesty thread because deception isn't the intended subject, I should have worded my question diferently. I just didn't want them to see the montior and think I was waving it in their face.
Anyway thanks for the responses, you gave me the information I needed as always. Thanks LCH

in principle, yes, but in the end it is not going to protect you without thousands of dollars to pay a lawyer.

as far as honesty, automakers, including DC, have killed people and lied about it in litigation, there are far worse sins than removing a box before you take your truck in for warranty work. if i blow something up with my edge and get DC to fix it i am not going to lose sleep over it. however the responsibility rests with me to prevent such a situation.
