I have my smarty on my 04.5 and we are swapping it around and seeing how a few friends like it but i have one friend that has an 03 and when we hook up the smarty it says vin locked and i have heard about this problem and the repair files you have. Can u help us out? he doesnt run a downloader but it is possible that it could have had one on it previous to his ownership. I think that i can get him bighten if we can get it to hook up. thanks guys. One tried for a day and monday morning has one bought and one on the way.

For everyone else is this what those files fix? or do those repair files deal withsomething else?

 

It's VIN locked because you already have the program downloaded into your truck. You have to take your truck back to stock before you try it in someone elses truck. You can't have it in 2 trucks at the same time.

 

sorry i forgot to mention that mine is returned to stock. i do know that you cant have it program more than one at a time.

 

i have an 04.5 too and was having a problem with it being vin lock after i loaded a tune.. i just sent it back to bob today to be fixed. he said he has to replace the electronics in it.

 

huh well i dont have problems with it doing it on mine or another buddies 03 but on one truck that was also a 03 it displayed that message. anyone have any other thoughts?

2003 the other truck has the last 4 digits of the vin number missing. If the smarty works on other trucks and not only that 2003 then that is the issue

Chrysler screwed up a lot of 2003's by leaving off the last four numbers in the vin.

The delaer can fix the issue or we can supply a recovery if you provide us with the comple 17 digit vin number.
