I would call both up, see which one offers you a customized to you trans build , and go with that, no reason to take an off the shelf unit, when you can get one built for you.

I think he just want to hear more about ATS.

ATS is more expensive for what what you get. Do a thread search on here and you'll find a number of folks that have had issues with ATS. Mostly when not performing right or when the tranny goes belly up. Then ATS, in some circumstances that we don't know both sides of the story, have not backed up their warranty. Those folks that have not had problems with the ATS tranny have liked them for the most part.

You very rarely see anyone talking about failed or fubared Goerend's trannies. And when there was an issue, everyone that has dealt with them have the highest praise...

Thumbs down

I would not get an ATS again ....can`t really say much more on here as it`s been considered "bashing" in the past.

As stated above call and talk to both companies and go with the company you feel comfortable with and you trust. You are the one that is going to drive the truck everyday. Personally I have a goerend trans, but I have a few friends that have ats trannies, and they love them. I was originally planning on going with an ats trans, since they are within 2hrs of Laramie, Wy. But after talking with Dave I was just more comfortable with him.

After 7k miles of driving I had Daves tranny fail on me, and he warrantied it with no questions asked. I know your looking for ats opinions, but If you want details on my goerend failure just pm me. I will ask my buddies if there ats trannies are still holding next time I see them.

My ATS trans is still working great. About 32000 miles on it. Close to 700hp. Tow heavy, entered several sled pulls, and play hard at times. They even called 1 year after I installed transmission to see how it was working. So I can only say good stuff about them.

I've seen this on on other forums as well .... lots of folks upset with ATS over warranty claims, and even more upset at the lack of basic customer service (no call backs, no replies to e-mails, customers chasing folks down for updates, etc.).

I'll be going with Goerend just for the dependability needed for my wife's truck to be a backup tow vehicle.
