Asking for performance advice
Asking for performance advice
I just purchased a 2005 3500 with the 610 cummins and a 6 spd. tranny. 3.73 rear
I am looking to achieve 20-21 mpg highway and be a little stouter on take off in low gears.
We ranch and more than 3 days a week tow trailers that gross over 25K pounds.
I am not racing or anything like that just trying to boost fuel economy when not pulling a
trailer and boost low rpm torque. From those of you whom have experience with products that I could use I would appreciate your feedback/advise/suggestions. Please do not suggest new injectors, twin turbos, etc.......as I am not looking to spend that kind of money nor am I seeking the results that can be attained from modifications of that caliber.
Bully Dog Crazy Larry Power Pup downloader
or
Edge EZ
or
Edge Juice
or
Banks Six Gun
or
Xzillaraider
or
any other suggestions
Thanks in advance

So that leads you to the Juice or the TST PowermaxCR(may be to much HP though)
Or maybe a Quadzilla with his new monitor coming out
Stay away from: Banks, and the downloader(Dl'er does not have EGT backdown)
Thanks for the info.......I did a little research on the TST powermax and with drilling the hole in the exhaust manifold for the sensor it would appear that onces installed it is failry permanent.
I know the hole could be plugged and the unit removed if the truck was sold.......but, my question is does having one of these void the manufacter's warranty since it would be hard to remove the unit prior to taking it in for service.

YES.To answer your question.Get theTOW version of the QUAD box. The XZT. Look in the STORE on this forum. Not very exspensive, easy to remove and designed not to hurt anything.I would proberly try this first and see what you think. There about 3 bills and a 20 minute install. 65 h.p.Will help with the towing, add some zip and a mile or two to the gallon increase.
You could also install some gauges seperately. This would allow you to monitor your truck and buy whatever type of box you desire. There's not much price diffrence to installing guages seperate from a box. Plus if you take off your box for service etc you still have gauges.

Simply put, you need to just get a TST box with remote and gauges. It will defuel to protect the engine, gives a full range of power from mild to crazy, and does NOT increase rail pressure, which is harmful to injector life.
JMO as a 2nd genner
HOHN, thanks for the info on the tranny, I was curious as to why I was turning so many r's (2250) at 70mph.....the 04 thjat I had driven did not trun that many at 70........but mine does have the tranny that has reverse back in your lap.
After reading these threads for several days I believe that I jave decieded to do the tone ring modification and advance the timing 2.5-3 degrees and add a Qzilla towing box.
Anyone have thoughts as to why this will or will not work well for my engine........
Thanks to everyone who replied to my original question

for gauges I personally like the Bully Dog Outlook monitor, lets you keep an eye on pyro, boost etc. & will defuel at whatever pyro temp. you select even on an unmodified truck. I don't beleive tapping for the pyro could void the warranty on anything but the exhaust manifold itself

EDIT -Opps, forgot to answer your question, Answers is no... If you stay at around 50-60hp from the pressure chip - No more
If turn down my ez to like level 2 or 3 will i be safe? Have people had any of the same problems with the juice? I am not sure how the juice works. do you know of anyone with injector problems with the juice?
