ARP head studs

I installed my arp head studs in my motor tonight and I have a question. I ran a tap through all the holes before I installed the studs but I have a few studs that stick up about 3/16" higher than the rest. Is this normal? A few of them are outside of the valve cover and a few of them are inside of the valve cover.

6 of them (the longer ones) should be on the outside above the exhaust manifold.

Did you use a magnet to pull up the shavings and then suck out the oil? The only ones that stuck up high on me were the ones above the exhaust manifold outside the valve cover.

i didn't realize that 6 of them are longer. At least I haven't torqued them down yet.

It's been a few years now but I'm not sure that 6 of them were longer. I don't remember that at all. I do know the six above the exhaust stuck up more because the holes weren't as deep and I couldn't tap any further. That was my situation, anyway.

6 of them are longer, and as stated, they go down the side where the manifold is on the outside of the valve cover.

yep that makes since now. I remember thinking that the studs didn't stick up very far next to the exhaust manifold. Well it is an easy fix. I had the head off and I didn't torque the bolts yet. Thanks for the help
