And to go along with that question, which is the updated kit when I order one?

The update was a little washer that shims something inside. Transgo includes them in the new kits. I called them and they said that anything would work that was the same size as the washer that they had in the kit. we didn't buy an update we just found a plastic washer and put it in and it has never hunted again. I will try to get some more info on where it goes, but you can call transgo and ask, maybe they can give you more info, it is worth doing. Before I couldn't stand to drive his truck, 30mph was nasty, up and down and up and down. Good luck, I'll see what I can find tomarrow.

Maybe I can help......I recently purchased the Transgo 48RE kit.....the instructions are dated 7/30/08.
There is a spacer that measures .616" od, .385" id, and .114" thick that goes behind the part throttle valve in the part throttle body.
It says it's supposed to help reduce the possibility of the light throttle 2-3 shuttle shift for the trucks with a throttle motor(05 and newer) and an engine chip or programmer.

I am on the fence of whether do just the transgo shift kit or to go with a full valve body. I have heard in the past a lot of bad things about the shift kits, but it sounds like a lot of people are having luck with them.

What is the difference between a valve body from one of the big companies and a shift kit?

Many of the BIG companies use the Trans Go shift kit in there valve bodies.

Naharra and Bighorn, thanks for the info on the shift kit. Light throttle at 30 mph is really jerky. But when I smack the throttle it woks great. Hopefully someone will come up with a set of directions to install the washer.

Any one have any idea how to be sure that you are getting the updated kit other than making sure that washer is in there?

I agree that these kits are very similar to a good built valve body when done correctly. I'm going through a Goerend dealer and Dave is gonna talk to my installer, to make the most of the out of the kit. Dave has some various tips when it comes to installing the kit and so far the only people who have had problems are people trying to sell me their valve body shift kit haha...

Well I bought the Transgo kit and its going in next week. It came with the little spacer, which is just a glorified washer, but if it gets rid of the 1-2 hunt I am all for it.

I can't wait to get it in there
