Anyone else building an EARLY 2004 Cummins?

Just wondering if anyone else is pushing their early 2004 Dodge Cummins with performance upgrades? Here's what I did:

90 HP nozzles from Dynomite Diesel

Water/meth injection

BD Twins

4" Stainless exhaust

TST Power MAx CR R49

Smarty

ARP Head studs

Glacier fuel pump (not yet installed)

ATS Billet transmission (input shaft, flex plate, co-pilot, torque converter)

I think I should have got the "Race Track" twins from BD. Yet I haven't turned the boost up on the standard twins just yet. I get about 42 right now. At this boost I believe they are barely working!

early 04 here its been fun playin around with it, but i think i need to step up to twin turbo set up. running 80 mph i am at 5 lbs of boost and the temps stay around 650-700 but i have a constant haze of black smoke while driving and just hit the cruise button to speed up another 5mph or so and boost jumps straight to 40 and i black out everything behind me. it seriously never cleans up at all

How does the diy cp3 perform? Was it difficult to do the modification? I read someplace where they show you step by step to do it. When they said grind a larger oval in one of the cp3 pieces I became nervous. I'd probably screw it up. I did all the work myself on my truck and I am fairly good with tools, but I don't know if I'd trust myself with my stock cp3. Any performance increase?

So how do you have a 235 hp cummins. Is that with double new york emissions or something. I thought they were 305/555 in 2003 to 2004.5

Also. . . I'm not bragging that I have the 235HP! I just got it for a steal of a deal.

That should not be so. Im not doubting nor was I accusing you of bragging about it I was just saying the rated hp was 305/555 and in o4.5 it switched to 325/600 and in 06 it changed again. Was the California model detuned that much. Surley not thats alot.

The guys who have a 235hp cummins have a S.O, where as most of us have a 305/555 H.O high output cummins.

To help with the confusion, 03-04 came in three flavors!! 305 HO and either 250 SO or 235 CA emissions SO.

FWIW... Smarty makes them all the same!!

Moobesor:

With the mods you have listed, you are capable of asking for more fuel than your cp3 can deliver. You need more than a DIY mod... suggest at least a Floor IT stage 1 Cp3 and you are better with a stage 2.
