Anybody running DRLs and some type of HID

Wondering if anybody has come up with a solution for running some type of HID lights while keeping the DRLs ( required in Canada ). Converting the fog lights to DRL and converting headlights to HID or running the HIDs inthe fog lights? The stock lights on an 03 just aren't that good...

I have just installed HID's and their great but you cant use daylight running at the same time, i just have to switch my headlights on. It seems like DRL give less power and it works on halogens with no ballast like a dimmer switch but on HID's the ballast needs full power to work or else it just flickers. however there should be a method to switch the DRL to fogs...

Yes, I have the DRLs enabled and just installed HID headlights! The trick is to use a fused relay harness to supply full voltage to the HID ballasts, even when only the DRLs are on. The reduced voltage at the factory headlight connector is enough to trigger the relay even though it cannot power the ballasts directly. The kit I bought on fleaBay came with such a harness, which is in part why I chose it. My DRLs are now full brightness, but they don't flicker. Actually, flickering should be more effective for their intended purpose, but I'm sure facts confuse the DOT in Canada too.
