Anybody been denied warranty with Power Pup

Just wondering if anyone has taken there rig in for warranty work and had the dealer deny warranty work because of having or detecting a BullyDog Power Pup? Or are they undetectable?

The downloaders scare me. I believe that it is very easy for them to detect their presence. Any performance enhancement can/will give Dodge cause to deny any/all warranty work for you truck.

Remember, if you go down this route, you are your own warranty station. Always make sure you remove any module/downloader before taking to the dealer.

Well......

If a dealer looks around long enough they will be able to see what you did. The question is whether or not they have a reason to do so. If you cant afford to cover your own rear you probably shouldnt be modifying things. Good luck!

Yup... any performance box is going to be able to be detected, if the mech. looks for it long enough. Its up to you whether or not you want to take that chance. For me, Im not taking that chance until my warranty is up, which is 7 years or 70k miles.. the motor is still warrantied for 7 years or 100k miles.. I'll do bolt on mods, like exhaust, intake and gauges, but no boxes till warranty is expired.

My understanding after reading the manual is that "ANY" mods to anything including exaust and air intake may/can void your warranty. My thoughts are to keep all stock parts and replace them back to stock before taking truck into dealer for service work. Is it cheating, maybe but look at how the dealer tries to cheat us most of the time. Had to take my truck in 3 times just to try to get the smoke-millage flash done. they didn't know about it. Finally had to print it out at home and take it in so that they know what I was talking about. My dealer is just not a deisel orintated place I guess. They try hard, just don't know or have the mechanics there. I'm still looking for a good desiel repair facitlity somewhere near me in Jackson Mi. Have been told go to Hillsdale so will have to see.

i had never been denied warranty work with my intake, and exhaust....infact my dealer recommends this....Increasing breathing = dropping egt's = longer better running engine. However i do take off the box and boost contoller. My understanding is any box that changes electrical signals AFTER the ECM is not detectable.....Downloaders are another story.

My dealer who runs BD products says that most people remove the program before they bring it in. After it is removed ithe ECM only shows how many starts there has been since it was reloaded, so they can figure out what you have done.

It all depends on the dealer, some have a little common sence and know if what you did affected whats wrong. Some dont are dont want to fight DC to cover their butts.

I know my local dealer wont touch a truck that has been moded in any way, down to the filters not being DC parts, hence the reason no one around here go there for anything. I would like to see him closed down, friggin jerk that cant sell cars, and no one trusts his techs.

The last time I had my truck in the shop I had thrown a code and had my friend to see what it was. It was a p0251 I think (injection pump metering control A). My friend erased the code on me before I knew it. So when I took it to the dealer the code was still not back on. I told the tech what happened and he asked how long had it been erased. I told him about 3 days he hooked up he's machine and could not fined nothing on it. So IMHO I don't think they can detect it? But I don't now that for sure so don't hold me to it.

Thanks for all your replies, the Power Pup is also a code reader and I have checked and erased any codes that were on there. I have no problem with the you play you pay deal, I was just curious how many of these downloaders have been detected.

I have not seen any posts of actual dealer detected programers. Not to say they can't but I have not read about it. sometimes these arguments are wierd to me because everone has profound opinion but not alot of real world experience.

they always just tell you the box voids the waranty which is true. whether or not a time stamp or what ever mark is left by the programer actually voids waranty I don't know either way. I almost bought it but was leary about the stamp. sometime I think people hold the dodge tech's in to hight of regaurd. I am not sure if the same guy that I had to physical hold his hand to get my pinion factor correct is going to catch anybody. I would like to read about a real instance and not speculation either way before I would go with the programer.

Then the other problem is the tech having a bad day who normally would overlook it.
Or at one dealership it's fine and at the next they just want to void all warranty even if it's not related. IE something rattling or electrical in the cabspace....

Well, from reading other posts, it seems like you can't clear all codes. Specificly, the Sentry System code it throws (if you have a Sentry enabled vehicle). So, if that is true, that in itself could set off a tuned in tech (with a smile no less). I was nervous about doing anything to my truck, but I got to hand it to you guys, I went and got a pup. Waiting for it to get here. I know I'll be in the cab for about an hour or two to decide wheather to flash it or not.

A little off subject but thought it would work here anyways.

Spoke to a Cummins rep yesterday concerning a question I had that the local Dodge dealer couldn't answer. First thing he asked me was had I "Chipped" my engine yet? Then he went on explaining that Dodge had to severely de-tune the 5.9 engine so that the drive line components would hold up. Don't remember what he said about max HP/Torq but that the engine and he stressesd engine could be programed for much more power as we all know.

Thought that that was very interesting comming from a Cummins person.

No I didn't get his name, wouldn't want to put someone on the spot like that.
