Any feedback on Edge Jammer BB Turbo?
Any feedback on Edge Jammer BB Turbo?
Found a pretty awesome deal (under $500) for one of these turbos. Anyone have any feedback on them? I searched and found a few posts on them from a while back but nothing recent. Also, anyone know the specs/sizes? Can't seem to find anything on that either.
I'm not looking to make crazy hp. Eventually about 500hp or so.
Thanks.

Well, I just got one on ebay. W/in a few minutes of the bid ending I found a good thread in the 2nd gen forum and decided to go for it. I think it'll work out nicely when I want to go to twins eventually too.
Still wouldn't mind hearing other 3rd genners feedback though.

There were only 100 or so sold total, so you might not get a big cross-section of answers. I have one on my 2nd gen. It's been 400-550hp (depending on box setting and which injectors I had in at the time) since I got it. I've had the Jammer BB since they were first introduced. Probably got 75k on it with no problems. Kept a spare when DD went out of business, but haven't needed it.
Got one in the classifieds for a 3rd gen, brand new kit in the box. Thought I'd own a 3rd Gen by now, but it just hasn't worked out. Have a set of Stage 3 injector nozzles for sale there too.

Remember that I have a 2001, 2nd Gen, but the spool will depend on mods. My truck is fairly done up, with a Diesel Dynamics cam, Spearco intercooler, Stage 4 injectors, Edge Juice/Attitude, BB turbo plus all the normal suspects.
My turbo will light around 1700 if I'm lugging it off the bottom. The 3rd Gen trucks tend to light lower down, with that extra fuel pressure you guys get. My cam and IC help out though too. As long as you have the power to support the size of turbo, you shouldn't feel all that much of a difference from stock in spool. The big differences are on the top end. The stock turbo on the 3G's start to run out of volume (exhaust turbine size) around 2600rpm, where these bigger turbos really shine up there. Reduced EGT and backpressure.
My truck at 500rwhp will make right at 36psi here at 2000' elevation. At sea level that would be a bit more.

Thanks for the info.

when i first dynod my truck i had a edge box intake exhaust and i hit 32 psi and 360hp. no smoke at all and then i put the stage 4 nozzles in and now i see 40 to 42 psi and egts never go up to 1450 unless its way hot out and im going up a large grade. now that i have a new tranny in i plan on doing twins with a s475, 100hp nitrous and head studs. klokliear how much difference did you get with the cam? i have been thinking of getting one.

I've called Edge and Turbonetics both, they both say the turbos haven't been made in a few years and didn't provide me with really any help. Talked to 2 people at turbonetics and they both said the turbo isn't designed for pressures over 30psi. So I don't know if they don't know what they are talking about or if everyone is just getting lucky running them to 50psi.

Don't know who you talked to at Turbonetics that gave you that bad info, but they don't know what they are talking about. Typical, misinformation. Dave is probably the only guy over there I'd listen to. I will say the compressor is on the map (over 65%) until 42psi. 52psi was the theoretical rpm limit, but it would take almost 700hp to get there.
Yeah I guess it just depends who you talk to. I just called the vendor I was looking at buying it from and he gave me a similar story. He said its not much of an improvement over stock and that it only supports about 350hp.
I was really excited about getting one, but I can't find any info on guys going from the 04.5 up turbos to one of these so I'm thinking I may pass.
