Thumbs up "Another Tire Question"

Well I installed my 315-70-17 tires! They look great! My son says they are sick! (I think thats good), no rubbing with the leveling kit, thanks for all the help and answers.

Now, what tire pressures are you guys running in these tires? I only drive it occasionally but its main purpose is to tow my boat, 7000 pounds with fuel and ice. Another thing is while driving with the original tires I wrote down my speed and RPM, at 1950 rpm I was doing 70mph, at 2100 rpm it was 75mph. After the tires it didnt change?

When the body shop returns my flares I will post up some pictures.

The speedometer won't change, but you really aren't going those speeds.

Reel, If you have access to a GPS - Global Positioning System unit you can determine your actual speed and do the mental note thing. Some of the boxes and downloaders can adjust for tire size. Otherwise you can go to your dealer and have your "pinion factor"? changed for the ECM. Do a search on having pinion factor adjusted or hopefully some of the 315 guys will chirp in with the correct number to use for your tires. I think its the revolutions per mile number in the tire spec that needs to be input. Good Luck and when you are going 70 now you are really going almost 80 ks

I had my "Pinion Factor" reprogrammed by the dealer as soon as I put my 315s on. I used 605 revs per mile number. This was from another owner with exact same truck and options. His GPS showed he was close to exact with 605rpm. The BFG specs say 601rpm. I have checked mine many times over the last year and a half and always been less than 1% variance in 100 mile check or at 70mph using GPS.

I had one DW incident and that convinced me to run my 315s close to max psi. I run 48-50psi both front, back and spare.

I run my 315 BFGs at 50psi up front, and 48psi in the rear. Unloaded or towing my ~6,000lb trailer. If I had a heavier trailer I would probably run the rears up to the 50psi limit but it tows fine with the slightly lower rear pressure.

The speedo can be calibrated with the DRB, you need the revs. per mile of the tires your using. Under the tire options for the truck there is an option for "other" after selecting that you can enter the revs. per mile of your tires and you'll be good to go.
