I have a dry amsoil pod filter on my intake (look at avatar), anyone know how to clean it?

 

vacuum the outside or blow 20psi or less from the clean side.

 

So I did both the mentioned above tonight, it works like crap. Looks like I am gonna have to wash it, cause it is still dusty.

I pretty much did that and you can tell it was still dirty.

 

It will be interesting to see over time as more people use these their true effectiveness and ability to clean versus the AfE proguard 7 or K&N or S&B as a comparison.

Hey SNOP, I know you just got this recently. Did you drive somewhere real dusty or something. What is causing your concern or need to get so clean?

I thought about going to the AMSOIL dry recently. I currently have the PG 7 oil type but I just might wait a little longer. Really like the AFE PG7 so far.

 

I have been having problems cleaning mine too. The first one lasted about 3 months (10K miles) I didn't have the outerwears sleeve on it so it got wet and greasy. Now I have the sleeve on it and the new one went a little further. When I blow from the inside with shop air, nothing really comes off of it. I think I'm going to change to a different filter. Maybe an oiled one?

 

Hmmm, I just switched from a S&B oiled style filter because I HATED cleaning it! I switched to an AMSOIL Nano dry filter...guess we will see if its also a pain to clean. I bought the Outerwear cover for it as well...

I got tired of the nasty mess the oiled style filter would make....plus they take FOREVER to dry after you wash them out...

 

I didn't do any driving anywhere dusty, just on roads and freeways in Washington and Oregon.

I think I am gonna pull mine off and put about 1 oz of simple green in about 16 oz of water and spray down the outside and inside of the filter. Then probably rinse it from the inside out with warm tap water or the hose maybe. It should be ok, thats how I clean my K&N on my quad and it gets pretty clean. Then probably stick it in front of the blower in the shop to dry out in about an hour.

 

Yeah...that should work out. Simple green is amazing...I use it to clean my race quad after every race...probably go through like 50 gallons of that stuff a month it seems! I also used it to clean my S&B filter once when i didnt have any cleaner....

I wouldnt mind cleaning mine like that....I just REALLY REALLY hate re-oiling filters. I quit using K&Ns on my quads a few years back as well...I'm a foam filter guy now...

just cause they don't come back to the same brite blue does not mean they are dirty or time to throw away

if you blow it out and nothing comes out then it is not that dirty
you guys are putting way to much thought into this...just blow it out with 15-20 psi shop air and call it good

 

I call it dirty when it sucks the filter minder all the way down and the truck starts smoking more than usual. I've been blowing it off with 100psi and can't get much to come off. Does 20psi really work?
******: You've got the filter minder, right? Should one trust it, or is it just junk? Even if I have to buy a new filter a couple times a year, I still love the *****'s Whistler and wouldn't change it for nothing!

 

i have the aem dry filter and it takes like 2 mins to clean. just blow it out and tap it on the ground for a sec and its good to go. it seems to be doing a good job keeping everything clean

Nothing against you but that filter minder is for dummy's. Mine will suck down with a brand new filter.

 

I normally have to do my dirtbike filters every two weeks (3-5 bikes)....so throwing the trueflow truck filter in the mix ever 3 months isnt a big deal....i even use the same uni cleaner / oil.....
