Airdog 150
Airdog 150
What benefits are you seeing using the Airdog? I've read all the ad's. I find it hard to believe Cummins would use such an inadequate filtering system. There are guys with stock filters & 125,000 on the original injectors. So do you notice any difference in performance or is it more a piece of mind thing ?
I just had the AD150 installed and did notice better throttle responce right away. Took the truck to SC on vac and set my Jr on SW#3 and never went over 65 and got 21.9 mpg, on the way back set the Jr on SW#1 and never went over 70 and got 20.3 mpg hiwy. Haven't done a full tank in town yet, but looks good so far.
better mileage, better throttle response, increased injector life, slight hp gains, lifetime warranty, better chance of not being stranded when the stock pump goes out
Pure Flow who makes the Airdog just had a 2009 International dropped of to them from the manufacturer to have them design a fuel filtration system for them. They plan to put them in all their OEM vehicles. They've found that the Airdog for OTR trucks has saved them thousands in fuel cost.

I put in the AD100 only because when I tromp it running Crazy Larry my fuel pressure dropeed to zero, the factory pump couldn't keep up.
Contrary to what was said above, I didn't notice any HP gains, throttle response or any of that, I'm skeptical of the whole "removing air from the fuel" thing, it is a great pump though. I really think the AD100 is all the pump most of us need.
You run new ½" fuel line from the tank to the engine. If you use the draw straw that comes with it and do a perfect installation you won't have a problem. Other people like me and *****'s heard abot the problems when the draw straw doesn't go perfect and the person ends up with issues when the tank's loew of fuel and modified Linerty canisters for the install instead, see the link in my signature.
If you want a simpler install go for the Raptor, there's no return line to worry about but you lose the filters that come with the AD.
Hope this helps.

I too am thinking about adding an Airdog. Am I correct in stating, if you are going with the AD 100 then you only need to add the draw straw if you have a tank mounted lift pump? Don't you just mount the pump on the frame rail and tie into the fuel line running forward to the OE filter?
But what about up at the engine, where does it hookup? With a filter cannister mounted pump where do you tie into the existing system? Obviously the original lift pump needs to come off but, I would rather not remove the entire OE filter housing with lift pump and lose the fuel heater/WIF light functions. Does the AD 100 come with a filtting or adapter to attach the outlet hose of the Airdog to the inlet of the OE filter housing after the original pump is removed? Not trying to hijack this thread, just trying to understand how to install the Airdog in a clean manner.

...or use the draw straw that comes with the kit. If you go this route you're better off pulling the box off so you get the draw straw the right length. Going this way you can plumb the AD return into the filler neck.
Either way you don't use any of the factory fuel lines, other than the engine return that goes to the canister. You'll run new ½" hose to the CP3 or to the factory filter if you want, most people bypass it completely and go right to the injector pump.
