Air Intake really needed??
I made my 5 inch intake for $30 dollars.. went to a shop and a bought a 5 inch 90* pipe, put the pipe into the stock rubber elbow that comes off the turbo and put an afe filter on it. Works great and the whistle is crazy.
Man i sure don't, i don't have access to a digital camera. My buddy had to post pics of my truck heh. It was really easy to make though, drill the holes for that sensor and where the pipe would be clamped into the stock elbow it had about a 1/4 inch gap all the way around so i took a smooth rubber mat i had layin around and cut and wrapped it around the bottom of the pipe, it filled the gap and seals perfect. afe filter $68 dollars and a 5'' 90* pipe $30 bucks. Can't beat it imo.
You could put a intake fan in your stock air box. Do a search for intake fan and read all about it. I did take the photo's off. If you want more info send me a PM. Oh I do have a AFE stage 2 setting in the garage. I like the intake fan better less noise and more power.
I will say that my truck with stock software loaded up "runs" better (maybe efficient is a better term) with my intake/exhaust mods than any BONE stock truck I've driven. Don't know if its much faster or makes more power....
I dont think it's a total dead end on adding an intake to our trucks....
