Diesel 2006,

The AFE Pro Guard 7 is the best and you can get for an intake system, look at the replacement muffler by MBRP from us that will bolt right on and that gets you a full 4 inch system very easily and at a good price. Give us a call and we'll be glad to help you.

Or you could step outside the box and look at the ScottySystems air intake. Not square like the others, not pleated like most of them, dual layer like no others.
Superior filtration, positive results with improved mileage too!
Available here at the online store.

I also wanted to hit 3000 posts and this was a good way to do it.

Glad you are studying.

Scotty

Then there is the DIY BHAF setup which, in theory, offers superior filtration and increased (although maybe not a vastly more) airflow, with a paper filter that you never have to worry about under or over oiling. I have some pics in my gallery of what I did, others have done similar setups.

There are a number of options out there, do some reading, find the areas that are the most important to you (maximum filtration, maximum airflow, ease of cleaning, cost, etc.) and pick your favorite.

I researched a lot here and on other sites. The best bang for the buck has to be the Scotty intake. I use the UNI filters on all my Motorcycles, in some very dusty conditions, and they filter way better than anything else. The Scotty system is huge! I saw lower EGT and faster spool up with it.

+1 on the scotty 5. I have had mine on for a little over a month now, and am loving it. I have used the Uni filters for MX racing, and they are great. I researched it all, like you are doing. In the end I am VERY happy with my choice. And as and added bonus it makes the turbo sound even better.

I will just say that I am very pleased with my AFE Stage 2 PG7 and filter outerware. I am sure that any of them will flow a WHOLE lot more air than stock and probably filtrate better too.

I hear my turbo spooling just backing out of my driveway!

Go with the Scotty intake and for the exhaust get rid of the factory muffler with a Aeroturbine 4040L kit from the cat-back.

I went with the PG7/intake setup and outerwares. Gutted the lower 90 degree elbo, removed the sliencer ring and added my own fabricated polished aluminum down tube. Exhaust is all stock except for the 41" Donaldson muffler. (See gallery for pics). I have no complaints about any of the above items. Recommend each.

Make everybody happy and go with the scotty intake which I stand by as I have one. And an MBRP muffler from DPPI. Scotty is a standup guy and his intake did give me two miles per gallon increase, and I have never heard a bad word about Mark and his bunch all though I have never needed to do business with them but probably will at some point in the future.

I have a K&N. alot of people bash it, but I love it! I love sounding like a boeing when i hammer down. One day i was riding in my wifes car and had her drive my truck down a 6 lane road. I had her hammer down when she started getting near me!! Wow it was awsome sounding, that turbo whistle all the way passed me was awsome. I got about 2MPG more with the new air filter and cut my muffler off. at first i thought i didnt like not having a muffler, but i got use to it and love the straight threw exhaust.
