After Market Injectors (long)
After Market Injectors (long)
Ok guys bear with me a little here. I know there has been a lot of post about bad injectors resulting to melted pistons and trashed turbos pretty much the entire engine. I have hesitated on getting a FASS or Walbro bc, well I don’t know which is best or which one I need. I know they do basically the same thing, but like anything one is supposedly superior to the other depending on who you ask. There is also the issue of DC voiding the warranty for either of the two. I’m getting to injectors hold on…I also realize the benefit of either setup which is filtration and fuel system protection. Now most of us have a 7 micron filter bc there is not a 2 micron filter that will fit the filter housing that is in our trucks. Yeah I know we can change that two, again DC “Void Warranty”. Oh I forgot they will void the warranty anyway bc of contaminated fuel which caused the problem above that could have been avoided in the first place if they would allow us to install any or all the mentioned above. OK now hear comes the injector part of the post. Supposedly Bosh is coming out with a new injector, when where, your guess is as good as mine. Will these be any better than the stock ones we have now? Again who knows. Now here is a question that hopefully you guys with a lot more experience and knowledge with these engines than I will answer or give me some insight on.
Will after market injectors such as the F1’s protect me from fuel contamination any more that the stock injectors I have without any of the filtration components mentioned above?
Not saying that I am not going to installed a FASS or Walbro with a separate water separator.
I know, “DC will Void Warranty”. Well heck they will probably do so anyway so why not spend the money on some components such as the ones mention above and have a reliable dependable truck. I mean there is a high probability you will spend way more money just to have you engine repaired bc of contaminated fuel trashing the engine.
sorry for the long post.

7 micron filtration is a good start. No aftermarket injector is less susceptible to damage to contamination. I have yet to see anyone get their warranty rejected by using an aftermarket superior fuel filter set up and the aftermarket lift pump is needed to maintain flow through the more restrictive beneficial filter. Cummins recommends 5micron filtration if I remember right.
The new injectors from Bosch are piezo electric ...allowing up to 5 injection events per combustion cycle. Yes these injectors are better as far as control and pressure goes but as far as I know they are not compatible with our current injectors. Get a GDP or FASS system with 2 to 5 micron filtration and enjoy. ks
