AFE Stage 2 versions

I have a question since I am planning to get an AFE Stage 2 Intake, since its seems its the most popular here. The question is, which one to get, since I see there are two versions:

1) AFE Cold Air Intake
Cold Air Intake System, Stage 2 System, Includes Air Box, Filter, Intake Tube, Instructions And Hardware, Adds 50 Horsepower And 100 Lb Ft Of Torque.
Cost: $450

2) AFE Cold Air Intake

MAGNUM FORCE STAGE 2 COLD AIR INTAKE WITH PRO GUARD 7 FILTER AND TUBE, Adds 50 Horsepower and 100 Ft Lbs Of Torque, Increased Fuel Economy, Heat Shield Replaces Factory Air Box And Intake Tube, Includes Pro Guard 7 Lifetime Reusable Filter, Instructions And Hardware
Cost: $493

I saw those 2 at: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/ , and both are advertised for the 5.9 diesel. Mine is a 2007.

What is the difference between them, which one is better or are they just the same and wouldn't notice the difference.

Also, where I can find the best price for these, excluding ebay?

Thanks.

there's no difference in those two. They do make a Stage I and Stage II. The Stage I just doesn't come with the torque tube is the only difference.

I would keep looking if I were you. Those prices are a little high. The Stage II will cost a little more because of having the tube.

IMO, I'd go Stage II. That or at least gut to OEM tube.

The difference between those two is the second one has the Pro Guard 7 filter. I do agree though, those prices are a bit high.

The filter for the stage 2 is bigger and flows more air than the stage 1. the stage 1 has a 4" inlet where the stage 2 has a 6" inlet. There is a little more to it than just a tube.

The stageII is louder. And I agree with wap, there is a little more distinction between the two. The main thing is that it DOES flow better than stock.

what he posted though are the same thing only listed different.

there's no difference in filter size and they both come with a Pro Guard 7. They didn't used to but, go look at AFE's site. the only differene is the filter housing and torque tube. Yes, the Stage I has a smaller inlet but, that's beause you didn't go as far as to buy the Stage II that replaces the tube.

I agree, the two above intakes are the same system, one with the standard filter and one with the PG7.

I just wanted to make sure people reading this didnt think they could mix and match parts and filters from a stage 1 to a stage 2, or vise versa.

And, those prices are more than a little high, keep lookin you can do better than that.

Yeah I'm wanting to get a Pro Dry filter for mine. I like the fact of a dry filter in place of an oiled one. I wonder how much filtration you lose with the dry filter?

I believe the numbers are 99.5 in PG7 and 99.4 in Standard and Pro Dry. AFE products are top notch and I wouldn't worry about which filter is going to be the best. Use whichever one suits your needs. I remember an issue of Diesel Power from a few months back which had about 30 drag trucks and their setup with specs. Probably half of them (IIRC) ran AFE.
JMO, and food for thought....

As and addition to my last, the PG7 is recommended for applications where you may encounter higher than normal dirt ingestion (IE desert, jobsite, oil rigs, offroading).
I contacted Michael Cain at AFE a while back and this was what he mentioned.
I have both the PG7 and Standard, I also use the prefilter.
