I found an AFE bladerunner intake for my truck that is only a week old and the guy wants a different brand for his truck. He is selling for 250, is this a worth while purchase. I have only added a smarty jr to my truck and will be adding a new airbox and filter as well with a new muffler in the next two weeks. Should this be a part of the goody bag??? I do not plan on any further power mods as I don't forsee needing them. I just want to make sure my engine can inhale and exhale at its best to make it last. Thanks for any response. If not the AFE what other brand?

The CFM+ tested best on my truck with similar mods to what you have planned. See the thread titled "Intake Manifold Tests Complete" or check out the article on my website: www.trivalleyperformance.com.

No problem! I don't really think you can go wrong with any of them as they are all better than stock. My truck also responded WAY better than I anticipated, so it needed that airflow for sure. Best of luck to you, let me know if you decide you need a manifold (or anything else!)

Thanks. Is the afe that difficult to put on. The thread made it sound a bit different??? I don't mind spending the extra bills for the better intake if it is worth it,(what do you think) as I plan to have this truck for the next 20 years or more. I only want to make mods once and not do what this guy is doing and selling one brand just for another. (I guess that should tell me something right there huh)

i wasnt a fan of the way it mounted and the fact that it had holes and bolts in the airstream.

I installed my CFM+ this morning and only been out for a hour or less drive. I can say its at least what i expected, very noticeable power right of idle in every gear. I drove easy on the trip and just noticed it pulled better from the drop in rpm's from gear to gear, with in the area 450-500hp it never lugged before but its very noticeable anyway. No regreats here not sure if any milage is to gain but ill know in a few days. Go for it. Ryan P.S. and the black powdercoat CFM+ just looks like its suppose to be there, doesnt look out of place or to flashy- great piece!

Out of the other two, which is an easier install, (I haven't decided if I am going to do the install myself or have the dealer install to maintain dealer warranty) but if I decide to do it myself I always love the: "that was easy" installs. Thanks again for your help and input.

Did just the quick price check on Ebay, just to answer my own question of price comparison, the CFM looks just a little cheaper by about $20. Thanks you guys for your help on this. Looks like a new intake manifold will be going on the truck here in the next couple of weeks.

Sorry, but one more question. What differences in the material used to make these intake manifolds are there in performance and durability. Why should I go with carbon vs alum, or visa versa or with anything else. Thanks. This will narrow my search a bit more.

the CFM is a composite (plastic) material. It dissipates and insulates against heat better than the aluminum ones. Aside from that, they should hold up about the same

Erik be sure to keep us posted on your truck. Im curius to hear your numbers after just the fuel system upgrade and bumping the smarty to sw #9. I found a great diesel shop in Emory ' Performance Diesel ' seems like good folks, i plan on getting over that way soon and trying my hand on their dyno. Thanks again Erik - keep us updated -.
