I plan on purchasing an aero turbine muffler for my 05 dodge. I am goinhg to keep the CAT on. Should I purchase the 4040 or the 4040L and what is the main difference in the 2? Should i place the aero up close to the cat or midway between the cat and the end? Please give your opinion and why

(flame suit on) whats an "Aeroturbine"

 

dont worry about the flame suit, a Aeroturbine is a muffler that *supposedly* lowers EGT's, and puts a nice mellow sound on the exhaust, a few guys are running them

is one of them, it goes on the exhaust, as far forward as possible

Yep. I have the 4040L as a muffler replacement and like it. There is no extra drone in the cab compared to the stock muffler. I put it in right after the cat.

 

Does the cat make the turdo sound a lot quiter? Should i leave the cat on or take it off?

 

I have the Aeroturbine. I had it with the cat and without. It's louder without. Don't know if the Aero is worth the price... My exhaust sounds pretty good with it and the Dynomax though...

 

I have a 4040L on my '05 right after the cat. Nice, mellow, deep tone. No drone.

 

I have a 4040 on my 06.....sounds VERY nice.
