advice on intake and chip

Guys

I bought me a 2003 quad cab 4x4 ram 2500 5.9lts, got it on a salvage auction , so far i've putted the 2" front leveling kit, 35*12.5 nitto terra grapper w/20" incubus offroad rims, it already has a monster exhaust installed when i bought it, so the obvious next step its gonna be performance.

The airbox its damage so i need to replace it with a new one and i want to order a performance chip, I dont haul heavy loads (i have a big rig for that) but i do go off road and want more speed than pulling power, i was looking at the six gun cuase I can select the grade of performance but im right here asking the cummins gurus whats the best recommendation for intake and chip for my truck.

Smarty for the programmer and either a *****'s Whistler or AFE intake.

Is this a Auto or manual transmission? if its an auto you may want to consider upgrades there as well.

If you get the Smarty you'll need gauges - EGT and Boost at Min.

You may also want to check into Edge Juice with Attitude. It already has gauges built in.

Watch yourself with on bombing your truck. Before you know it you'll have 10grand invested and a 7500 pound truck running in the 11's

The Banks Six Gun w/ PDA will work fine for what you use your truck for (off roading). Banks power kicks in at higher Rpm's and that is what you need when off roading. Especially in the sand box.

I had Superchips, Edge Juice w/ Attitude and Banks Six Gun w/ PDA. I also tried the Smarty Jr on the 70 hp setting at Glamis. By far the Banks gives smooth power and if you don't like smoke. Banks gives just a haze at best. The only down side w/ Banks is it's a pressure box. Ejectors on 3rd Gen trucks in stock form give enough. More added can cause ejector problems.

For a CAI. Get a good drop in filter and save money. Since you said your CAI box is damaged. AFE has one w/ a closed in box instead of open (forgot the name of it though).

Full blown Smarty in case you want the additional options down the road and an aFe intake. Then get gauges and go on with adding the toys as you have the time and money!

guys thanks for the prompt response, the truck is automatic, and i liked the 6gun cause it's a dalily driver truck and I intent to keep it that way, being able to select the grade of performance sounded great but you know better than me in that matter, i want to get better performance and be able to get a great response from my truck right now its kind of slow since i did the tire upgrade,

im not a hardcore offroader (at least not in the truck) I ride dirt bikes so the truck i use it to get the bikes to the trail, and where do you recommend me to buy the parts from the whistler air box filter and the chip

Been where you are at now, installed edge Juice, att and with all the hardware under the hood I found it a PITA to remove the stuff for warranty work.

I upgraded to the smarty, I have it set on # 3 for the last 6 months and I never touch it so no worries about upping the HP and doing damage.

I installed Quad Commander for gauges with the pillar pod and I have never looked back. When I upgrade the tranny I'll just turn up the smarty and I am good to go.

get guages and a smarty, that way you'll have room to grow. the smarty works perfectly fine as a daily driver. i have *****'s whistler and am very happy with it. plus it's hard to beat the price.
