Adj Tire Size W/ Programmer Without Installing Tune? Which One?
I am looking for a programmer that I can borrow to adjust my tire size, and give back to a bud. So I need to know if there is a programmer out there that can adjust the tire size without installing a performance tune, I just need to adjust the tire speed, and give it back. I know I can just buy a "TirePak" or "Superlift TrueSpeed" or have it adjusted at the dealer, but If I am going to spend money on fixing my tire speed, I might as well just put the money towards the programmer I want.
Thanks, Fallas

That's a good question. I know the Smarty has to have a Catcher tune installed to change tire size.
How big are your tires? The stock ECM only goes up to 285's (at least with the 06's). With some of the programmers (ie. Smarty) you can increase the size up to 44" or something. The programmers probably have to use a non-stock tune to get that capability out of the ECM though.

So your stock size was 265? 265/285....so your speedo is .07% off. I just round to say 10%. So at 30, i'm going roughly 33. At 70, I'm going roughly 77....and when my speedo says 110, i'm really going 121mph!
The only way to re-calibrate without buying a Smarty is to have the dealer do it.

Did you check you speed with a GPS?
I just want it to be done right, and I suck at math
The high idle remains because Smarty uses the most recent stock software from DC.
I don't see how it's possible to program the tire size without a tune installed. My Smarty doesn't even show that option until a tune is uploaded.

idk how it works, ill take it back to stock, then remember that the speedo is wrong now. so i hook the smarty up to check and low and behold its still at 32.5 which is what i set it at for my 33s. possibly the mystery will never be solved...

Mine seems to "save" the tire setting somehow when going from Catcher, to stock, to another Catcher. I haven't figured that one out yet. The Smarty must save your tire size in it's memory or something?
i have no idea. i was thinking the same thing about the dealer seeing the different tire size? what is the stock tire size so i can take it back to it when i go back to my friendly neighborhood dealer? next time i mess with changing it, ill do some experiments.

I do not think it will be a problem with any dealer if they even notice the setting has changed. The tire size can be adjusted by any tech that has a scan tool. A local speed shop adjusted mine with a snap-on scan tool. I think it was under the Brake ABS section and is adjusted by choosing a different rev per mile number that the tire you purchased should have in its specifications. I changed from the stock 17" tires to 19.5"x 265 and my speedo is close enough for me. I to want to use a GPS to get this as accurate as possible at some point but it is close enough for now. I went to one of the many websites that have calculators to tell what the tire differences would be and have it as close as I could without using a GPS.
Hope you now someone with a good scan tool and I am sure they can help you get this set. Dodge Dealer wanted $45 dollars to make the change. The local speed shop changed it while I was picking up some fender flares.
Good Luck, Jeff
