Adding Air Bags

We are thinking about adding air bags to our 2005 Dodge 2500 LB diesel PU. We tow a fifth wheel and want to add just a bit more stability to the rear end when towing. My question is this, my husband has the idea that he would like to remove some of the current springs and then add the air bags. He wants to make the truck ride smoother when empty. I say that this would loose to much lateral stability. What are the facts on this?

leave teh springs in place. they are part of the total weight capacity of the truck. The airbags are intended to stabilize the load; not carry it.

I wouldnt go about messing around with the factory springs.. Just add the airbags, and deal with the rougher ride. I too am planning on adding bags to my 2500.

I have air ride superduty and they are the best addition for towing. I can't say enough about them but I'm not sure about getting a smooth ride empty. If you leave air in them stock it'l jar your teeth out. I don't have the on board compressor yet. Def get the onboard system. good luck
