Adding Bags: Remove leafs?

I am planning on using my 93 dually as an every day high MPG highway cruiser to get to and from work. And I was trying to find ways to soffen up the ride alittle. I'm already planing on running a different set of (SRW) tires out back to help. I was wondering if adding a set of 2500 Lb helper air springs/bags to the rear end and trying to remove a couple of leafs from the spring pack would help. I know it would soffen up the ride and the bags would help to resore the payload copacity when loaded (very rarely), but I don't want to have a problem with the springs cracking due to possible wheel hop problems (for WHEN the boost and smoke bug hits me). Anyone have any experience with removing leafs on these trucks and know which ones I can safely remove without causing damage?

I put a set of the 5000# bags on my dually, the Airlift ones. They say that the 5000# bags can run with only 5 psi in them, but the others have to maintain 10 psi at all times, so if you removed some leafs, I don't think it would ride any smoother. When my truck is empty, I bleed the bags down to 5 psi, but my wife hates the "jiggle factor" it's a lot worse than before, I kind of enjoy it , but you are going to have to maintain a certain amout of air pressure in the bags, regardless. Best thing to do is call a spring shop in your area and ask them about removing some leafs and see what they can do for you. Try going to the AirLift website and check out what they say. But loaded, the bags DO make it ride a whole lot better.

When I bagged mine I removed the overload packs completly and run 5psi when empty. With the 1800# camper on I run about 10-15psi. Just so the truck sits level. Ride is much better with out the overloads but still rough.

I have a set of low milage Ramcharger leaf packs I'm thinking about putting on.

I've been thinking of trying that too but I carry a camper a lot so I worry about too much sway on turns loaded. I figure the springs are rated at 6000 or more lbs and the most I can put on the rear axle without going over max gvw is about 4500 so some of the springs are not needed. I had thought about leaving the botton one and removing the next two or three. If you try it let us know how it works out.

I got bag also, and its just as rough empty, but it is smoother when loaded. I have 1 ton springs, plus the extra overload springs and air bags, I always said the truck would make a man out of you after riding in it, but after a million miles it almost crippled me. I still love the thing anyway.
