6" lift kit problems
I recently installed a 6" Tuff Country lift kit on my 05. The lift kit was very well built and put together and the install went very smooth. Here is the problem since the install I have a terrible vibrations and noise above 60 MPH. I had the dealership realign the truck and adjust the front pinion angle as far as possible "still 2 degrees off". I also had the front driveshaft extended and rebalanced and the rear checked for balance still there in full force. With the front drive shaft removed it is improved by 75%. Tuff Country is doing everything possible to help, but is beside themselves with what to do because of the Dodge vibration problems that occur from the factory. I am thinking maybe longer upper control arms to realign the factory pinion angle, but on the other hand the angle is minimal at best. I am running 37" Bfg Allterrians on a 17x9" rims all brand new and balanced more than once just to be on the safe side. After the lift was complete the vibration was there with the factory rims and 285's. The truck is a 2005/3500 4door short box and cummins with 5000 miles. Please any help would be appreciated.

Disconnect the front driveshaft and go for a drive. If the vib goes away you know it is the front driveline. If it does not...play with the pinion angle of the rear with tapered shims.
It is most likely the front...
If you rotate the axel (longer upper control arms) to fix the pinion angle, you will mess up your caster and end up with too little and more than likely death wobble. A custom front driveshaft with u-joints designed for a wider range of angle (rock crawlers use them) should fix that problem.

I have noticed alot of lift manufacturers doing a 4 or 5" lift kit for these trucks, I have a 4" superlift, and I love it, no noise, no vibration, and no death wobble. In my opinion with what I have seen, a 6" lift puts the front drive shaft in a very bad angle, that is why alot of lifts (fabtech, pro comp) are going with a 5" lift that is level.
further more tuff country lifts have never been too high on the list in my book, I have 2 good friends that have scrapped the tuff country lifts in favor of the super lift just due to vibration ect.

Mine is smoother than it was when stock
bigge---> See if Tuff Country will swap out your lift for a 4.5". It's actually still a 5" lift (I measured) and I haven't heard anyone having problems with it. I know the BFG's will clear because a guy in my town has 37"BFG MT/R's on 17x9 eagles with the smaller Superlift and his don't rub.

I have had the same problem with my 6 in superlift. I just received a drop bracket for the transfer case, and will hopefully be installing it tonight. They say it gets rid of the front end vibration, let you know tomorrow
No issues whatever with Tuff lifts. I have had four of them on fords and dodges.
I agree with Whitesport...mine rides better than stock.
I think the people who feel ripped off spending twice what a Tuff costs start these rumors to make their expeditures seem warrented. Tuff, Superlift, Skyjacker, Rancho, Fabtech, Pro, etc are simply that...lift kits. Not race suspensions like Kore or something similar. Oem spring rates, better shocks (Bilsteens in my case!), enought lift for what you need, strength, and no alighment/vibration issues are whay is important to me. Low cost is another great bonus!

Install was free...did it myself.

I am sure Tuff country is fine, I personally have had no luck with it, (vibrating, popping under spring compression, hard to align properly, death wobble), and for a few hundred bucks more, (NOT DOUBLE) like some would lead you to believe, you can have a good well performing lift.
Mistake...
Tuff 4.5" or 5" lift does come with all four new shocks. I opted out of the crappy one size fits all gas shock and recieved a credit and then bought $300 worth of Bilsteen.
As a summary...better shocks, less money spent overall.
What is it that makes one better than the other? The parts are almost exactley the same. I have installed both. A can of spray paint would make it impossible to tell one from the other. I also am not fond of the spring rate.
One day...when it is new spring time...I think I will try a Kore spring with a 2" spacer!
Please enlighten me to the exact reasons one is better than the other?
Albertsons Rasin Brain tastes just like Post, has same ingredients, but just costs less. I know not all things in life are this way...but many are. Paying for marketing...

Anyways...Big Joe,
You have a real sharp looking truck there!
I am not trying to start an arguement...I just think that bashing of Tuff's products is unjustified. If there is a problem, an accurate description of the deficiency would be nice for sake of conversation.
Tuff is right there with the others...
I bet the popping under spring compression was an issue with the track bar...not a part replaced by the Tuff lift. Most likely installer error...loose bolts.
