5" is loud and deep...
I only have run it on my stack, it was WAAAAAY to loud when it was straight piped..sounded awesome but just too loud.
I run a 51" donaldson now and I love it...once I got the smarty installed it really quited things down even more!!

definitely LOUD

I tried it as straight pipe turbo to tip and it was real raspy when I got on it hard. Sounded almost like a ricer fartcan.

Added a muffler to it and that help some, still pretty loud. especially if I was towing anything. Even when not towing, backseat passengers had a hard time hearing people in the front seat.

i have since gone back to my "almost" factory 4" with a mbrp muff. I may play with the 5" some more later, maybe experiment with a different muffler or muffler placement. for now, though, the 4" is doing pretty good.

Im running a 5" Bully Dog on my pickup with the cat left in. Sounds really good and deep with a little bit of drone more at about 1900 rpm which my trucks rarely at. I had the 5" system with no cat for one day and it was way to loud. With the cat it made the tone deeper and quieted it down quite abit.

i also have the 5" straight pipe kit from shop diesel and was actually quieter than my 4" w/ muffler at idle. At take off little louder and the drone is at 50 -60 when the TQ is about to lot up. I love it

I have Magnaflow 5" turbo back on my 04.5. Fit and finish excellent and it is much quieter than my stock exhaust that had missing kitty and muffler w/aeroturbine 4040l in it's place. Pulled 14,000lb toy hauler w/no drone and lower egt's (~150 deg cooler @ cruising speed).

5" here....

Had 4" straight piped with a 6" tip & it was raspy & loud. Replaced it with a full 5" turbo back straight piped system with a 6" tip & it is now much much better. The sound is much more deeper & not quite as loud. Plus absolutely no raspy sound....

X2 on the Magnaflow 5-inch. Quieter at idle than the stock 4" with muffler delete, loud enough and nice and deep under throttle. Some mild drone if the motor is lugging but no more than the muffler delete and no raspy sound.

uncles 03 had an awful drone with 5" straight pipe, and with his stcks, and then he put 4 inch straight and lved it. I have 5 inch with dual 5 inch stacks, it has an ungodly drone on my 96... my windows and everything, MIRRORS TOO, shake when it drones

I built my 5" from turbo back using a Donaldson M090595 muffler, pre-bent 90's and 45's that exists in the stock location for $220 and it's very quiet with a nice rumble.

ive ran 5" on two trucks. like 53 ****** said its loud and deep. ive got a muffler now before it was no muffler. I do have some drone still but it is nowhere near as bad. I like the tone and looks of the bigger pipe. buying another 4" exhaust kit for a truck that has that size of pipe on it is pointless to me. its about the same cost also to get 5". I have a diamond eye muffler and I like it alot.

I did the 5" because of the raspyness of the CR with 4" drives me crazy. Coming from a 12Valve with 4" straight pipe to a CR engine is hard to get use too. 5" has that deep tone I was looking for.

Not to thread jack but how did everyones truck run with the 5"? Had a guy think that his truck ran bad when he took the cat off and did the 5". He then put the cat back on and it ran better. But it was an almost stock 00 I think.

I too lost some low end but soon as I put the 51" donaldson muffler on it was back......I did not even notice the loss till I put the muffler on.
