both are about the same, probably the biggest differences would be in the muffler

you want loud or quiet?

Why would you want a 5" exhaust if you have to use the stock 3.5" elbow/downpipe ('03-'04) or even a 4" ('04.5 and up)?

If you're going 5", do it from the turbo back. I think Bully Dog makes a system that clamps to the stock turbo (eliminating the elbow) and goes straight to 5" from there. If you're looking to increase efficiency, this is the way to do it. If you're going for looks, well, you're on your own.

I looked at going big, but a 4" worked just fine for me up to 550-ish hp.

Unless you have a BIG turbo, I don't see the advantage at all except for looks.

Also, with the stock turbo a straight exhaust sounds like a big raspy you-know-what. When the wastegate opens it sounds terrible. It needs a muffler.

It's a different story with a turbo with a decent sized exhaust housing, like a 66-14. You can hear the turbo through the exhaust like a big-rig.

I bought a 5" Bully Dog exhaust for my 07 and I have the muffler placed in the loud way and its not to loud. It has a nice deep tone unless you really rip it then its pretty loud. It took about 45 minutes to install.

I dont know about the 03's but mine from shopdiesel came with a 5" downpipe. And I dont understand why people are complaining about the loudness and raspiness of a straight pipe. Yes with my 66/14 it sounds a little better, but if you have an intake and silencer ring mia it sounds freakin awesome. I dont like the way a 4" straight pipe sounds, and neither do any of my buddies after hearing mine. When people ask for a 5" straight pipe, they obviously want it loud and arent worried about drone. So give them what they want instead of saying, it's too loud. Put a Muffler on.

Brett here is the kit I was running bone chattering loud and simple bolt up takes about 45 minutes all by your self and bolts right up to the stock turbo and bells about 1/2 after the clamp!! Pretty much a true 5" system...

I would check out farmboys diesel performance. My 5" system was $410 shipped to my door, but that was a system with a muffler, so a straight system should be fairly cheaper.

YES!!! This is one of those thing where it's really hard to convince someone with just a video. It is an unbelievable difference. My buddy just got his 4" straight piped and like I said after people here mine..it puts his to shame. People will NOT ride in my truck without the window down....until we go by a brick wall. Trust me DO IT. 310 is rediculously cheap for how it sounds. and egts drop too. just get an intake too

Yep I run the same as 35 05. It is loud, drone is not any worse than a 4" straight. It is alot deeper.
And the shipping is free from shopdiesel. It may show shipping cost online, but when you call and order the shipping is free. They must have some glitch in there online ordering.
