22.5" wheel adapters

I have decided to go with the 22.5 Alcoa 7.50 wheels. I am concerned with excessive vehicle width. There are many adapters being made now and most are 1/2" thick. All the adapters that I have seen add the adapter thickness as increased width. Are there any members out there that know of an adapter that compensates for this thickness with an adapter offset so that the wheel flange remains in the original plane adding no extra width to the truck?

due to the way they're attached I don't think there is any way to do this and still have the strength. If width is a huge issue you could have the face of the wheels themselves milled down. I know that the new Alcoa 24.5 wheels are rated for 7400# each. Since they're going on a pickup I seriously doubt your going to need all that capacity and could probably take a little off.

You need different wheel backspacing, the adaptor can't compensate.

I am not certain of the diameter of the Dodge bolt flange, so I cannot yet determine the amount of material available for a recessed shoulder, but it is probably not more than .3 " as the bore size of the 22.5" rim is 210 mm (8.6"). The 8 bolt pattern is at 6.5 ". Adding .7 " to that per side is 8". That probably is not enough material for strength in the adapter. I will obviously have to check to be certain.

Yes, I can face about 1/4" of the Alcoa mounting flange. It is 3/4" thick and 1/2" is really all I will need but that only delivers 1/2" overall.

What does the term back spacing mean? I am not familiar with the term.

I did't have to have a 5-1/8" backspacing on mine as Superlift said I had to with my 6 inch lift. Chromewheel sent me the wrong adaptors and wheels. I ended up just buying another set from another place on line and they look good and ride great . I got mine shiped to my door for $4250.00 sure beats the 6k I paided to chromewheel. Still have them in storage Have to wait on Visa to take care of the problem.

No I am working with Visa to get my money back! I told Visa that I would ship them back or drive the wheels to this guy to speed up the process. Now I have to wait on chromewheel to respond to the Chargeback letters Visa sent them. Sucks when you make payments for items you cant use I am just glad my wife let me buy another set. I got great customer service and a hell of a deal from this new place. Been reading alot about Chromewheels and there poor customer service.

Sounds like a pretty solid tip. Please let me know what place this is. I have been talking to Chome Wheel. I don't need to make the same mistake.

Steve, as you know we bought another 2 sets over the weekend. Alcoa had some sort of price increase last week and when Stephanie went to order our wheels she ended up losing money on the sale. Her dealer's price had gone up before we placed our orders and they didn't tell her. She still billed me for the old price. I must say they have the best customer service and they are very honest people. They will tell you the truth even if they lose the sale! Not many folks like that anymore! This is our 3 set for our family

Here is the link to there auction on e bay
