2007 Dodge Ram

I just sold my 05' Powerstroke and purchased an 07' 6spd dually with the 5.9L. It would make sense to me that the truck is nearly identical to an 06' as far as drivetrain and performance mods compatablity...but I could be wrong. I am wondering if anyone knows if this is true or are there differences on the 07'? I want to begin modifying it and I'm curious if the 06' stuff will work. TIA.

early 07's will be identical to the 06 besides the new badges and tail lights. After Jan all 07's will have the new 6.7L Cummins with all of the emissions crap and the 68RE 6 speed auto...

Ok, that was the impression I was under. So it will be safe to say that 06 performance stuff is compatable with my truck? (ie. intercooler, chip, exhaust etc.)

I would think the reputable manufacturers of performance downloaders or boxes would be able to tell you conclusively whether their products work on your truck or not. There has been a history of companies saying yes it will work when they know it won't but are working on it and don't want to lose the sale. ks

Ten 4 on that one. I am not sure who I would trust on this one.

Thanks guys. I will look into the chip in the next few weeks. I need to turn over at least 1,000 miles first. Already straight piped her thou. I loved my PSD but I did manage to blow the head gasket like most others that start modifying them. I am very happy with my Cummins so far...cant wait to hook up my trailer.

Well plan on some tranny upgrades if you plan on anything over a 65hp increase. These trannys will only hold up to stock hp, anything more and you will start to destroy or shorten its life.

Why is everyone down on the new 07, I think it will be a much better truck than the earlier models, plus there will be fleet, about time. I would say the emmisions are the only drawback, but all big 3 will need to deal with this problem. Besides emmisions give me one other drawback? Oh and it will have PTO, that alone offsets emmisions in my opinion. Please add feedback, because I would like to know of any other drawbacks!

FWIW, I spoke to a dealership about the '07 and the salesman said " If people are going to Modify these trucks they are going to throw codes. They will have to go to the Dealership to clear the codes." All I said was I'll stick with my old 12V. lol.

I'm not bashing you, but I've wanted to say this for every ford convert. I thought ford was the best and dodge sucked? THe powerstroke has it's faults but is still better than a cummapart. BLA BLA BLA ford is awsome.... BLA BLA BLA I'll NEVER own anything else BLA BLA BLA...

Glad to see more people are coming to their senses. You will love the people on this board, best friends you may never meet.

Thats fair. I loved my Ford and I would probably have another one if the stick was more plentiful. You just cant find them behind the PSD. The PSD is a good motor, it just doesnt handle alot of power well without doing alot to it (studs, gaskets, firering etc.) Im very pleased with the Dodge as well. Im just not a Chevy guy
