2005 Ram, tried smoke switch now limp mode
Hey, I attempted to install a smoke switch last night on my 05 CTD and it has a smarty jr, and 5" turbo back exhaust.
Now I took everything off as it didn't seem to work and set the map wires back to stock, and now I have a p0237 code and the truck is in limp mode because it has no power at all. I try to reset it with the smarty jr. and the code won't reset, just stays present.
How can I fix this, and or will the code go away
Thanks
Chris

No you can, which is strange because it won't clear the code. Says code cleared, however, when starting the engine the code is still there and still drives in limp mode =/.

How did you tap into the wires? If you used those scotch lock connectors the wires could be broken from the way it cuts into the wire. You must have some kind of open circuit for it to keep the code active.
You cant use a smoke switch with a downloader. You need some kind of box or you will ger codes, like you are experiencing.

Thanks matego, I realized that a little too late I assume. Now I had originally used those lock connectors, however, I did cut and splice the wire together now with connectors because I did think it could have cut into the wire. I have not driven it much since I have re-tapped the wires, but I'm going to try to do that after work now. So you think it's probably just with the wires with the MAP sensor correct? No other damage right. Also is there a fuse I could have tripped?

P0237 is for map sensor voltage too low. The only voltage it receives is in the 5v supply that you spliced into for the smoke switch. Are you 100% positive you dont have the wires mixed up? If you blew a fuse there would be a lot more going on than just the one code. The ECM provides the 5v reference voltage and if you lost that, your 5v supply for all the other sensors would be dead also. I cant remember where, but there is a diagram QUAD posted of what wires go where. If you have a test meter you could make sure you have the 5v in the correct socket of the connector.
If you are checking voltage at the connector, make sire you use something real small to insert in the plug so you dont spread the pins. That will cause a lot of similar issues to what you are having.
So in a nutshell, by that code you lost your 5v and now you have to make sure the wires are 100% for sure where they belong and there are no broken wires or spread pins (which should not be a problem unless you were poking the pins before)

Well I have not checked the pins or connectors for voltage as of yet. So bent pins or anything like that I would rule out at this time. Now I'm sure I used the right wires, but nevertheless at this point I have removed all the hardware for the smoke switch, and I'm running JUST the factory wires. pink and yellow/light blue I believe are ones spliced together right now.
Well let me elaborate on that a bit. I spliced them together to their appropriate ends. I did not put them together and run them. If you know what I mean.
Essentially, what I'm saying it's as if I had not touched a thing.

Left them unplugged tonight for 5 hours lol. Nothing. I'm thinking it's a bad MAP sensor. If the MAP is bad it would leave it in limp mode, and because it's electrical I would assume that it wouldn't reset because it's such an intricate part of the motor system?
