Thumbs up 2004 "DynoJet" numbers-just FYI

I had the great pleasure last evening of meeting with two fine gentlemen I "met" through this forum. I will leave their identities out of this post unless and until they decide they would like to chime in as participants which I encourage them to do.

My 2004 (NOT 4.5)3500 QC 2X4 has the following modifications which were on the truck during the dyno run:
Edge EZ on #4
DIY "Torque Tube"
Straight 4" pipe from close to the turbo to the 4" that came-e-the truck.
Synthetic Blend Schaeffer Oil
AFE air box-w-Proguard 7
Automatic-w-3.73 ratio
"Hula Girl" on the Dash Board and Bob Dylan in the CD player.

#'s were 279hp (I am calling it 280) and 580 ft lb Torque
I think these are respectable numbers and I am very pleased with the torque number and where the power was in the low RPM range.

That sounds pretty low to me for an EZ on #4.

Edge seems to have lost their dyno #'s on their new site.

Somethings not right. Those numbers seem low. Guys have posted stock dyno hp numbers in the 260 range. Edge is claiming +70hp & +220hp at the rear wheels on level 4. In combination with the Edge I would think your intake & 4" pipes would add at least another 10hp each.

Did you happend to make any runs at a lower setting on the EZ?

PPSI, sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you, I was invited to go, but I had a paper I had to write for my class. I am sure we will meet soon.

I ran my truck on the same Dyno last December and I myself thought the numbers were low at that time. My bone stock run showed 152.9 hp and 305.1 ft-lbs of torque. On my Edge Ez setting 3 I had a gain of 70.7 hp and 110 ft-lbs. I didn't get a chance to run on level 4, actally I messed up putting the connectors on the pins.

I know I have the SO motor, but gains should be the same across the board with the same box. When using the formulas found on the internet using the speed and time in the 1/4 mile to figure Hp, I found that my numbers at the dyno were not even close to what it took for me to travel down the track. I won't really know until I run on another dyno.

Was this a SO engine? Those number are too low for a HO 305 HP engine! I've witness several stock 03 and 04 HO's dyno at 255 to 272 on a DynoJet during Diesel Thunder in Spokane!

I will agree with everyone on the #'s - they are low for a HO. You have an auto or 6 speed? Your edge wired up correctly - maybe you have a bad unit? I'd be calling edge to explain things. You should get around 330 (260 + 70) with a 6-speed, stock exhaust and air box. Maybe somebody that has your set up and has dynoed their truck can chime in.

For reference, I ran 237 hp and 437 tq on the same dyno (different day) with my '04 HO 6 speed. This was bone stock with ~200 miles on the truck. Another bone stock HO ran just before me that same day ('04 Auto) and put out exactly the same numbers (237 and 437). Either we all have weak trucks down here, or the dyno reads a little low....

As I said in the originasl post I have an 04 which are all "HO" 305/550 and an automatic. I called Edge and they said the torque numbers were in line but that they usually get more HP from #4??? It is too frustrating for me to think about weather the dyno is reading low or the box is bad or maybe it was right all along.
I will call the guy I got it from and maybe try another box. Personally I feel like the numbers were satisfactory especially the torque. I also asked about the juice/attitude combo and there is still no news. I need guages bad but am willing to wait for a reasonable time for the digital if at all possible.

Not all dyno's read exactly the same, ambient temps and pressures also play a factor - slight or not.

FWIW, my bonestock HO/6 speed ran a 252/466. The highest stock '03 that weekend was 261.

I look forward to running it again this summer to see what the 4" exhaust does for me.

Sorry, this is not true! 04's in California are all SO as a few states back east.

I am sorry to report an error in my Dyno Protocol. I am a total as)(*&. I put my jumper on what I thought was setting #4 but what I did instead was put it on #2. I had it on #3 and thought moving the jumper over would put it on #4 but instead put it back on #2 $%^&*(). I am ****** off because now I need to go back to see the numbers change again. Please consider me dumber than cow crap beat with a bat.
Thank You

dumb? nah, sounds human to me... But when you go make your dyno run, ask them if you could make a pull on each of the jumper settings for comparison.

It sure would be nice to see the difference in power when using the same truck, same dyno, same day, same fuel, same temps and baro pressure/humidty, same operator, .....

Or am I being dumb to think they wouldn't charge you 4 times?

Well - it is $60.00/2-pulls. I plan on 1 pull stock and 1 pull on #4. That is if I can extract my cranium from my **** orafice for this amt of time.

I will be accompanied by the truck I am racing at The Rock. His is a brand new 2004 Hemi QC 4X4-w-5-speed automatic. Any guesses on his numbers? My guess is exactly 1/2 my torque.

I don't know if anyone else has an EZ but if so we look at the jumper settings and see three dual pin positions. The settings don't ever make mention of the third set to the right side of these three. Anyone have an idea why they are there? You only get two jumpers in the kit?

I just Dyno'd my stock 04 quadcab 4X4 6sp today.... here are the numbers (the truck has 4,200 miles on it)

first pull Stock Air Box........

278 HP
506 FT

2nd pull (ColdAir-Intakes.com) Air box

280 HP
510 FT

I didn't expect much of a HP or FT increase with the box, however, the EGT's did drop 25 to 40 degrees. This is without the "Ram Air" effect on the box as well since it's at a stand still.

I watched a 04 hemi dyno in Ky last Oct 248rwhp. Stock except flowmasters on the exhaust. My fathers 03 so dynoed on that dyno in Nc at 248 with the ez on setting 3 dont remember the torque but it was almost 500. Tim
