Go to this link:

http://www.dodge.com/towing/D/vehicle_to_weight.jsp

At the top of the page, center, put the year of your truck, then check your truck (2500) then go down the line and answer all the questions, your engine is not the 610 diesel (last 2 at the bottom of list).

Check it out, it's easy, even I can do it!

Because you have a 305 engine (2004) vs a 325 engine (04.5).

Yes, what he said, the 610 is really the 2005 year engine, but in late 2004 for what ever reason, Dodge started putting the 2005 engines in the 2004, (2004.5) but didn't give them the full 610 lb only 600 lb.

Is the 305 hp, the "SO" (Standard Output) or the "HO" (High Output) engine? Or is that only in 2003 when they had two different engines?

The 305 is the HO engine. 235 and 250hp was the SO engine.

After 04.5 and the 325hp engines, the HO and SO was dropped.

This is the link to the page, only trying to help you out, you can call it a 30,000 lbs GCWR if you want, this is the information you asked for.

The HO lasted from 2003-2004 and was 305/555..aka the triple nickle.

In 2003 there were three engines
CA special 235/460
SO 250/460
HO 305/555

In 2004 they dropped the CA and on January 4th 2004 the 325hp or 600 series engines showed up. If you valve cover says 305 you have a 2004, not 2004.5 engine.
