Hey everyone, I was curious to how you can tell if you have a SO or a HO on a 2003 2500 CTD, I checked the specs for the 03's on cars.com and they showed 3 differant Cummins engines for that truck that year. So i was curious to how you would identify this on the truck?

Engine tag on left side(drivers) of engine.

Yes, that sticker shows the hp rating of the engine. 235CaSO, 250SO, or 305HO.

In 03, didnt the HO only come with the manual tranny, you couldnt get it in the auto tranny could you?

You could.48re was in 03.

Later in 03... When I bought mine in early 03, the HO only came with the NV 6 speed...

there was a mid year split in '03 also straight '03's had the HO only with the 6 spd., the auto's were 47RE @ 250 or 235ca. The '03.5's had the HO available with the 6spd or the 48RE auto.

as of jan 1, 2003 you could get the 48re in the SO truck also... hints my truck

Are you sure that's correct? I have a C in the 11th place and my truck is an '03 6 Speed with the HO...
