2 stroke oil?

Any run 2 stroke oil in thier truck? This guy today was telling me because of the low sulphur diesel, you should put a quart of 2 stroke ol in every tank to help lubricate the engine?

I have done this with both my current 2006 and my previous 2001. I was told the same thing and to be honest, I saw a big difference in mpg's on the 01 but nothing on the 06. I was told to put 1 oz of 2 stroke oil per gallon of diesel but generally ran about 20 oz per tank. I think the newer setup is better able to handle the low sulphur then the older one and that was the difference. As for running any better, I didn't see anything with power or being more "smooth" or quiet.

There was a study on here somewhere that had looked at the different types of additives for diesels. The short of it was, old regular dino 2 stroke oil mixed in with the diesel fuel was the best for lubrication pruposes. Just make sure that the 2 stroke oil you add is ashless, most guys were using the Wally world stuff. Some claim great mileage gains, smoother running engines, quieter. Some claim rough running, no gain in mileage. That being said, I have been using standadyne (sp) and haven't made the jump yet.

I've run 2 stroke and it sure seemed to quiet things down underhood. Another guy told me to try straight 30 weight oil. I run a quart per tank full. Just as quiet if not more quiet than the 2-stroke. And a lot cheaper also. And if I don't put anything in my fuel, I can hear it almost immediately. It has to do something.

2 stroke is one of the best additives thier is for our trucks it is also good down to -40 temp wise aswell an additional point is our fuel should be around 400 for lubricosity and typically it is in the 600 range so 2 stroke improves it by 160 plus points its a win win

Been running the Wally world TCW-3 ashless every tank for 2 months now. I also run Stanadyne every couple of tanks. No issues so far and it runs smoother and hwy mileage went up about .5-1 mpg for me.
