100% Bolt-On Turbo Upgrades.....

Just curious, but with the stock exhaust manifold, are there 100%, no fuss, bolt-on aftermarket turbo upgrades for a dailly driver?

If so, what is out there?

Would I have to upgrade my fuel delivery system, from the dealer installed retro-fit intank system?

I may need a winter project, and might start saving up for a turbo, and possibly an aftermarket exhaust manifold.......

Most all of the common turbo swaps are a direct bolt on.

Really...........I was not aware it was that easy, to bolt on that much more power!

Industrial Injection makes the original PhatShaft, that is said to be the "perfect upgrade turbo for towing". I tow maybe 1-2 times per month, and not competitive towing, just towing a 20" deep-v Lake Michigan fishing boat.

-PhatShaft is available in 2 different compressor sizes, 62mm and 66mm.

"PhatShaft 66 is a mid to high range turbo upgrade intended for performance and light towing."

"The PhatShaft 62 is the perfect upgrade turbo for towing"

-------------------------------------------

BD's Power Super B Single sounds nice.....

"yet are responsive and durable enough for street and heavy towing applications"

Featuring BorgWarner’s unique Extended Tip compressor wheel technology and low inertia, full-floating journal bearings, these turbos utilize BD’s unique dual-volute turbine housing. This proven design utilizes low rpm exhaust pulses for improved turbine response, while the dual-action waste gate bleeds off turbine drive pressure from both volutes. BD's turbo systems also feature a heavy-duty waste gate actuator that prevents pre-mature opening caused by high exhaust pressure. You can even fine-tune your BD/AirWerks turbo for ambient temperature and barometric pressure changes using BD’s adjustable waste gate control.

------------------------------------

If I do upgrade and get a new turbo, I would hope to spend $1300-$1600.

Any ideas what else I should look for, or what turbo would be a good overall performance and towing upgrade for my truck?

I use my stock exhaust manifold with my HTT, works great. An aftermarket manifold would work better though.

Does the aftermarket manifold help build higher boost levels?

Yes definitely. It'll quicken spool time and seems to help get an extra pound or 2 of pressure. Better flow.

Turbos in and of them selfs do not increase HP they give you more air so you can add more fuel and the fuel gives you more power.

FYI better flow should drop PSI, PSI is also a measure of restriction. Thats why if you port the heads, intake and exhaust PSI will drop quite a bit, but power will still go up. More volume, but less restriction

Yes, I meant a stock fuel system......

Why did you choose the Super B?

Did you notice anything, good or bad, after it was installed?

Are you pleased with it?
