1 hour away from being a 3rd gen ownr..got questions
Hello All, Well the time has come, I am giving up my nicely modded 24 Valve for a 06' 3500 DRW 4x4 Quad/SLT/Auto... If you look at my current sig I have the 24 Valver pretty much set-up nicely and I need some help on the new one.
1st question: It's just toooo quiet, how can I get some more sound out of this truck? Doesn't have to be crazy but I couldn't hear it on the test drive, Besides a whole new exhaust, is their any kind of straight-piping I can do to "liven up" the sound?
2nd question: Just your opinion, Let's say some EDM injectors (small ones) were to sneak in the engine compartment (no box mods at all, just gauges)..will these void the warranty? (can "they" tell?)
3rd Question: With this in-tank pump, is it still recomended to do an in line pusher-pump too? (let's assume stock)
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions...The BUG bit me a long time ago and the sad part is I haven't even picked up the truck yet and I am already planning mod's

There is a poll question right now by viking diesel on pg. 2 entitled "Which exhaust setup to do" Should give you lots of help on exhaust.
Don't know about injector question.
Most put some type of lift pump if the demand is there(Walbro,FASS) & it usually is
I'm waiting to get the quad monitor & see where I'm at. If the pressure stays within acceptable parameters why add a pump? I think lots of people do it because it seems to be on the list of the top ten things to do. The majority do it 'cause they need it. Thier right foot has a lot to do with that decision

It would really hard for a dealer to tell if the injectors have been changed. Since these are modified stock injectors.
If staying stock the in tank pump should be fine. Stacking a pressure and duration box you would need to add a additional pusher pump.
Yes, there are kits to straight pipe the '06s.
Good luck and have fun!

I have the MBRP muffler, BHAF, silencer ring, torque tube, and tone ring on my truck.....Its a helluva lot louder than our '05 dealer-stock dually at work.....I cant sneak in at 2am anymore cause the truck wakes the wife up every time
She says she can hear it 3 blocks away, the dog about 7 blocks
I've had a ton of comments on how it sounds.....Listened to drive-bys, and yeah its alot louder with what I have

If you upgraded injectors, I wouldn't think there would be any way to tell either, then again, I'm far from an expert here.
As you can see from my sig, I've only added the MBRP replacement for the stock muffler. Cat is still in place and it's loud enough to hear without being obnoxious. Also gives it a nice deep healthy tone.
Maybe it's just me but mine seems a little louder after adding the Quad box. From the timing advance or an overactive imagination, I'm not sure.
I don't know if upgrading injectors would be more than your stock fuel system could handle but I know with my Quad box on 100hp setting and above, I can pull fuel pressure down to nothing quite easily. With the truck stock, the lowest I saw was about 3psi (this is with an idle pressure of 6). Then again, I don't have the in-tank pump so not sure how much, if any, that would change things.

A torque tube is something you can buy or make. It replaced the stock portion of the intake tubing and makes the turbo sing louder. Might help with airflow, but that is only speculation. The tone ring mod is something you can do to the crank sensor gear mounted on the front of the crank balancer. It enables you to advance timing a few degrees which can increase power and mileage. And reduce egt's...

As far as straight piping on a third gen, I think it's known that some guys don't like the "ricer" sound. It won't sound like the older CTD's. Throw on some type of straight thru muffler and you'll be happier, in my opinion. I've got a Dynomax and it sounds better than when I had her straight. Still loud, but better.
