06 Cummins vs 03 7.3 Powerstroke
Well, I have a 2001 F250 w/ a 7.3 PSD and 6 speed. I use the truck for my landscape business. It has 88k plus miles on it and runs like a champ. But as others have said "it's not a CTD". As far as Ford PSD goes, the 7,3L / six speed combo is without question the best truck Ford has ever made.
After all that, I would not give up my 06' CTD for nothing.

I agree about the comment that the 7.3 was the best ps built,, it is just that it still isnt a ctd. I have a friend with a 7.3 in an 01 with the standard, he has a chip in it and 4" exhaust, I used to think that truck was so fast, of course now I have been enlightened. But still that truck was what got me involved with diesels

My 7.3 Powerstroke was a good pulling truck. It never gave me a hint of trouble for the 4 years I drove it. It wasn't fast at all but it did pull pretty good. But for me the best thing ford did was start the 6.0 powerstroke, because if I hadn't bought one and got stranded on the side of the road so many times I may have never bought a Cummins.

They started putting them in in 94. Early 93 they had the old non turbo charged indirect injected motors and late 93 they came out with a turbo charged direct injected motor. Then in 94 they called it a powerstroke. I think they were only rated at like 190 hp at first then 210, then 235, 245,250, 275 for some six speed man i think that all the higher they got on the 7.3's. I pretty sure this is right cant really remember that far back I was only ten in 93.
Sounds right but I think in late 93 they had an IDIT or Indirect Injected Turbocharged engine... when they went to Direct Injected in 94 thats when they started tagging them as Powerstrokes, btw Powerstrokes are from the factory(Navistar) called DT444E's where as IDI's were just called 7.3's
From the factory:
1985 6.9 IDI:
Max HP 175 @ 3300 RPM
Max Torque 318 ft/lb @ 1800 RPM
1988 7.3 IDI:
Max HP 185 @ 3300 RPM
Max Torque 338 ft/lb @ 1800 RPM
1993 7.3 IDIT:
Max HP 185 @ 3300 RPM
Max Torque 360 ft/lb @ 1800 RPM
Pass that I'm no help...
About 3 months ago i started looking for a truck, i didn't care what brand i just wanted a good truck. I drove everything, the 7.3 is good the 6.0 makes more noise than power and the d-max is good, but the CTD is by far the best. I wanted a truck that will last and i can depend on.
My 2000 PowerJoke had a Dp chip, straight down pipe and an AFE. I was very dissapointed when a HEMI ram hung with me. With the mods I had i was told i was around 300hp. Your bud said his 7.3L has 270hp stock, 6.0L had 260hp at the wheels
