I wouldnt worry about his 7.3, a guy I know of course has a buddy who is buddy'd with a guy that has a bad 98 powerstroke and wanted to race. I laughed in his face. They claimed it could get sideways and break the tires loose at 60MPH, again laughed and told them if they really wanted to race bring it to a dyno event where I was at first, the thing put down 380HP with turbo injectors and chip, hmm never heard anything else about that truck

WHAT????? They atarting putting the Power Strokes in the SuperDutys in 04. I think what you are trying to say is they didn't really make a 98 model truck. They released the new body early in 98 and called them 99 and still produced the older one abd those were 98's

They played the H.O/S.O game in 03. hmmmm can you think of another large automaker that did that in 03?

Cummins Motor

Now he said my motor is not wet lined or sleeved and that is considered a homeowners diesel. He also said the reason my truck (6-speed) runs such a high rpm is because Dodge can't build a transmission to deal with the torqe at a low RPM. I wish he would hurry the H....LL! up and buy the bad 7.3 i am burning up to smoke him.

No the older OBS's were 97's, and then the new ones were 99's, im not really sure about when they were released but...in 98 model year all you could get was a F-150, and an F-250 which was basically a F-150, same body same engine trans, just different axles and overloads if i remember right.

The super dutys are the new body style 99's and newer, the 7.3L PSD did begin in 94.

They started putting them in in 94. Early 93 they had the old non turbo charged indirect injected motors and late 93 they came out with a turbo charged direct injected motor. Then in 94 they called it a powerstroke. I think they were only rated at like 190 hp at first then 210, then 235, 245,250, 275 for some six speed man i think that all the higher they got on the 7.3's. I pretty sure this is right cant really remember that far back I was only ten in 93.

Ronc, tell your buddy the 7.3 has wet sleeves so the annual overhaul is easier! It also has zippers on the injectors! After 15 years of RVing, my wife even knows when there's a Ford up ahead. They're the ones making all the smoke going up the hills and everything else is passing them. Craig

MY boss just bought an 03 7.3 also, so they do have them.

I also have a friend who has an 02 7.3 and had to buy a chip and other goodies to keep up with us Dodge boys when towing the Jeeps around. He said he got tired of the stock Dodge trucks leaving him behind in the hills. We just can't convince him to switch.

I know a lot of guys including myself that switched to the Cummins after the 7.3 went away. In fact I know of 2 more guys that are going to switch soon as well. Anymore the only real competition is the Dmax and it just keeps coming closer... hope the 5.9 will be able to keep up for a few more years...
