05 48re exh brake

sorry for bringing up an old subject, couldn't find it in search. A while back they were saying that the 05 trucks with the auto were going to be able to be re-calibrated or somthing to accept an exhaust brake like the 06, is this still true anyone know?

Carlton Bale said it would be several months (if ever) before Dodge would come out with updated programs for the 05. It is my guess that there are concerns about whether the 05 trannie could handle the exhaust brake without a significant number of failures or they want to wait and see how the 06 trucks do (ie failure rate) before making changes to the 05. Given they already have a program for the 06 which uses the 48re, it doesn't seem that it would be that difficult to develop a program for the 05. I would think they would use similar programs. Also, they may be thinking if they don't upgrade the 05's, a significant number of people may trade up to an 06 Dodge. There seems to be a lot of non technical reasons not to make changes to the 05's. If this is their logic, it may backfire on them if a significant number of peope, trade for a different brand. I, for one, am pretty irritated that Dodge isn't stepping up to the plate and doing whats right for their customers.

Yes, still true.

You'd have to take your VIN to the dealer to make sure your trans has the fixes to support it.
