Is it worth it to buy an aftermarket 4" kit for an extra .5"?

The big advantage of going with aftermarket exhaust is the muffler. Can't beat that flow thru muffler.

Early 04 is 3.5" to the muffler and 4" after. The muffler is the main restriction.

How about replacing the stock muffler with a flow through one?

That would help a lot with flow.

So I think everybody is saying it would be better to spend $50 buying a flow through muffler than $350 on a whole new system?

That's what I would do and did do. It will be just fine but if you get really serious modding down the road then you should upgrade. Soon enough I am going to get a better system, either a 5" turbo back or 5" turbo-back to a 6" stack.

How about loudness on straight piping this truck? Too annoying or does it sound good?

Well, they sound good but not near as good as the older trucks. Prett noisy too. The sound bounces off of buildings and cars in traffic. That's partly the reason I want to go to a stack. I still want it loud, but I don't want it resonating off of cars and everthing driving around....that gets on my nerves after a while.

Does anybody have any sound clips while driving inside the truck with the stock exhaust straight piped?
