03 common rail turbo suggestions
03 common rail turbo suggestions
I have a manual 03 with a fass, intake, exhaust, smarty sr and intake horn. Don’t really tow with it a whole lot. I’m wanting to just get more power out of it with stock fueling for now. I’ve been told with being a manual that I’d be alright with either a 67.7, 69sxe or a 72sxe. Not saying I won’t do fuel mods but I just want to see what I can do with the truck before I really start messing with fuel. I do have studs btw too. Just curious on some opinions and suggestions from you all. Thanks in advanced
I’ve been researching new turbos as well. Seems to me that those are quite large for stock injectors. (I’m assuming you are talking compressor size.) Going to have more lag with 67 and above. I’m looking at the stealth 64 and plan on putting in new +100 hp sticks as well but I’m gearing more towards towing and getting more headroom with my egt’s. I’d really call the experts and let them know your plans. It’ll really depend on what your end hp goal is. If you want 800 hp and want it drivable, you’ll need twins. If you want 500-600 like me then a 64-67 should work with the 64 being easier to live with. The guys at stealth seem like they know their stuff. There are lots of options out there that will get your head spinning and probably 1000 different opinions on this forum. Lots of good turbos and they have come a long way in efficiency. Fleece, borg Warner, all good. You can get the 6.7 style variable turbos too. Good to here what people are running and any Dyno and drivability results. If you think twins may be a possibility, make sure you get your first single that will work in a compound setup.
Good luck on the hunt!
