Who's having problems with the 6.7?

I 've been reading the Dodge forums and it seems a lot of people are having problems with the new Cummins. DPF problems, failed turbo's and other things so I'm wondering if Dodge and Cummins spent the time and mileage needed to test these engines before sending them into the market. I have not had any problems with mine and I've got 12K on mine and it's been great so far. If you go to the GM website those people are loving their new LMM's with little or no problems and at the Dodge site TDR some have had very bad luck with theirs. So I'm just wanting to check with others about their 6.7's. Chrysler is trying to get their feet back on the ground and problems with the Cummins engines are not going to help. What do you read into these forums and maybe some are just trolling. Thanks

No problems with mine, other then the "oil change required" coming up too soon. I changed it the first time at 1600 miles even when the dealer told me to just reset it and don't worry. The second time at 2600 miles I just reset it. I going to wait untill the recomended miles in the book this time.

I've had mine in twice for p245a first time was trucks fault, second time the tech left a screw loose and it blew out the gasket. I have just over 11000 miles. plenty happy.

Will be turning over 1000 miles on mine tomorrow...no problems yet. I am leary about the DPF though...my daily drive is 3 miles, 4x/day. Weekends I rack up a whopping 125 miles...city/rural, if lucky.
This weekend I'll be towing 12500lbs (5th wheel) 230 miles each way. I guess this will put the test on it.
So far though...no problems and I'm really enjoying the ride.
Btw, according to the overhead...I'm getting 12.5 mpg....no calculation yet..

Also, not trying to change the subject, but the DC Nav system in my '07 really, really sucks! I have the Pioneer Nav system in my 2001 and it is 'leaps and bounds' over the DC unit. I can see the day coming that I'll have it yanked and the new NVIC-N4 system from Pioneer dropped in its place.

My daily drive is only 6 miles each way and not a problem. I do howerver get it on the highway atleast every other week for about an hour while keeping the RPMs up atleast around 1600 to 1800 if not more. If anything it makes me feel better because I am leary about the DPF aswell.

Oh I've been getting 13 to 14 mpg. Normally it's in the low 13's calculated.

The problems that some have been experiencing have had to do with the new emissions systems on the 6.7, not the Cummins engine itself. EGR's, DPF's, regenerations.... all emissions related stuff. The environmentalists are trying to get Cummins and Dodge (along with the other major engine manufacturers and vehicle manufacturers) to work together to produce trucks that produce less pollution. It's natural to experience some hiccups along the way, but they are working together to sort these out. The vast majority of 6.7 owners have had very little or no difficulties with their rigs. We are the 'silent majority'.

AT 3700 i had my DPF, Cat replaced and got the new flash. 72 hours later i got the P2262 code but only could pull the code up the first time and after than it went away. Went into the dealer to have the CEL taken off and he said it was no problem that the sensors in the turbo are throwing ghost codes. Have not had that one again. I am now at 7,500 and for the last 2000 miles i have had the CEL off and on but never a code. One day while watching my mirrors as i sped off i saw a huge cloud of coal. Looked around for another truck and noticed i was in the middle of the cars all alone!!!! It was me and i guess its a cracked DPF. This is where the codes are coming from. Has been blowin smoke for 2000 miles and i LOVE it!! Not taking it in untill i have to get emissios done and then they can put a new one on it.

With all those problems i still love this truck and the power is unbelievable. Just my .03 cents.

I have had problems since early on. my DPF clogged while still burning the free tank of fuel from the dealer. it ran well before and runs well now but gets about 10 mpg average empty. i really love this truck. it is goofy how most trucks are not having big problems and some are though i do doubt some peoples mileage claims. it is amazing that the only way they can get better emissions is to burn more fuel! it started with the post injection event in the 04.5 and now there are 5 events plus the extra fuel to light up the DPF.

anyway you may think I'm nuts after reading it but i posted some things i have learned about the problems in the thread (6.7 mileage?) that is on page two if anyone is interested. most of the info came from the dealer service writer and deisel techs.

My truck had 300 miles on it and needed the re-flash.

Then the transmission needed to be adjusted in the third member.

Now it has 3300 miles and the MIL light came on.

What a bummer.

I just turned over 400 miles on my truck. It finally made it here and i picked it up Saturday evening at 7pm. I love the truck and so far i am averaging around 16mpg according to overhead, i know that most ppl say its about 10% off so i will say that at the worst im getting 14mpg. THat is with about 60% highway. I feel that is pretty good for only 400 miles on the truck and getting caught in traffic a bit. I have had no problems thus far. I had them update it to REV-b and had the high idle feature enabled before they delivered it. I ABSOLUTELY love this truck. It is a blast to drive. I would like to see better mileage but even if im only getting 14mpg that is better then my dad's denali and my truck weighs more so i cant complain.

I bought the truck knowing dang well that i may run into some of the problems ppl are having, but thats a risk im willing to take after i fell in love with the first one i drove.

5,500 miles on mine, towed heavy on at least four occasions, no problems, no noticeable regenerations, no re-flash. I changed the oil once, even though the computer did not require it. I ordered it in December and took delivery in March. Just lucky I guess….. So far!

By the way, I really love this truck!

Metalaram, Your right about this EPA cr*p we burn much more fuel with these new engines than we did a year ago. But the Duramax owners are raveing about there fuel mileage with very few complaining it seems. Don't get me wrong I do love my truck and am blessed not to have the problems that some are having and I just hope they are able to fix these issues. But I do expect better mileage out of these trucks when we were told that the mileage should stay about the same by a Cummins rep when they first hit the press. Just my thoughts
