What problems do you guys have and how do I prevent them

Been kicking around the idea of a 6.7. I know the 5.9 had a good reliable history, but what about the 6.7? Should I just look for a 5.9 if I want low maint. low cost of ownership high reliabilty or can that be had with a 6.7. What kind of problems should I be aware of and how does one avoid the inherent problems that might be associated with the 6.7?
Thanks

I've had my 07.5 for almost a year and had good luck with it. I drive it just like I drove my 2000 with the Cummins. LOTS of in town driving because thats what my side businesses demand with the occasional highway jaunt. No problems.

Love that engine brake and 6 speed auto.

Fix the emissions with the 6.7 if you can/willing and you should have one good and reliable truck. I love mine. If you don't consider fixing the emmisions then go with the 5.9.

Ditto

If you leave it stock, it could be hit or miss. If you delete, its just as good as the 5.9.

Emissions...... that seems to be an issue everywhere I turn. I like the 5.9..... the only problem is that I can't get a crew cab or mega cab with a long bed and a 5.9. I know that deleting emissions also deletes the warranty and sooner or later I know they are going to inspect these things which means I'll probably have to put emission equipment back on anyway. What seems to be the problems associated with the emissions equipment?

07.5 here and just turned 142K miles. Emissions surgery happened as soon as the procedure was available. Recent check ups show that its just nicely broke in with excellent oil analysis'. All I run is the Smarty on Software 3 with torque and rail pressure on ' 1 '. This truck has turned out to be the most reliable of the 26 Rams I have miled out. In Canada the emissions rules that are coming will not effect this older model year. At least that is for now. A savings of over 40% on the non renewable resource...fuel is all it took for me to decide to alter the truck. I did have the warranty restricted because I imported into Canada from the USA so it was never a concern after that.

Read the owner's manual. Don't un-hook this and add that till you really understand what you are doing. The 6.7's work just fine stock.

I've been wondering how ****** the dealer gets when one does the delete so can you go into detail on the warranty restrictions... like is it just for the emissions equipment or for the engine as a whole

Depends on the dealer. Some have a "Its not our problem, you messed with it" attitude.

My dealer actually understands how much of a detriment the Bluetec system is and will work with a fella.

I lost my warranty for importing a USA truck to Canada prior to the removal and altering of the emissions stuff. The restriction of the warranty had nothing to do with emissions.
Maybe someone else can verify the following:
I was recently informed that when a tech hooks up the diagnostics at the dealer...all the information that is collected and reviewed or updated on that vehicle is also sent to Dodge wireless real time. Its no longer something that can be kept internal between a willing dealer and customer to look the other way on altered or changed parameters on the vehicle or its computer.
I did not get specifics on what years or what OBD units do this.
[OBD = on board diagnostics]
