What did you pay for your new truck?
Ok, first of all, I am sorry for asking this question, I know some people may consider it RUDE when asked about high dollar purchases. I do not mean any disrespect to any one.
My Wife and I looked at some new TT's today, Oops, should of never done that. Now my Wife has her heart set on a 2007 or 2008 Adirondack 27fk-dsl-bs travel trailer by Thor.
We are going back to the RV dealer tomorrow to pin some details down, ask more questions and see how it pans out. Not a problem for me to upgrade our little 18b Four Winds TT because I've been wanting to do that for a long time now
but I have not bought the new truck yet!!
I think my 04 f150 XLT 4X4 5.4L SC can pull it (rated at 8200 lbs) and the 27fk weighs dry at 6048. I will not break any speed records but I think it will be ok as long as I do not push it too hard over some of the mountain passes and hills I some times go over in Washington and Oregon.
I think this is a great time to get my wife on the same page as I on getting a new Dodge 1 ton diesel.
According to the http://www.nadaguides.com website the SLT's are 35,855 (invoice) and 40,930 (MSRP) with out any extras and the Laramie's are 38,009 (invoice) and 43,435 (MSRP) with out any extras.
My Question is what has everyone been paying for the 07 1 ton Dodge diesels pickups? A ball park figure off MSRP would be fine if you do not want to give a specific amount. I just want to know incase we end up at the local Dodge dealership here in Auburn soon as well.
Thanks for any info on this you want to post.

First of all, I must ask if the new 27ft TT is a fifth wheel or is it a tounge hitch. If it is a fifth wheel, your F150 is way under capable for the hitch weight the fifth wheel will pull; the 27ft in my signature has a pin weight of 1680 lbs when empty, which is not too far from max-ing out a 3/4 ton, let alone a half ton truck. My yougest son wants to buy my truck from me, so I have begun shopping as well, but I'm sure the prices are a bit different between there and down here. A new 07 configured like my current truck will list MSRP down here for around $43K, and I can probably get them down with the cash-back to about $34 or $35 k. If you are going to run a fifth wheel trailer, I recommend getting a 1 ton truck. I would also recommend a dually for a fifth wheel because the extra track width on the ground makes a noticable difference in feeling of stability in crosswinds etc. I know a lot of folks will say they are doing just fine with a 2500 or a 3500 singel rear wheel, and that is ok if they are alright with it, but I have done it both ways and I much prefer the extra tire on the ground under that heavy hitch weight for safety and stability reasons. Hope this helps some.
All the above is probably right but a 2500 will do fine if that is all the trailer you a re buying. I am currently at max weight ratings on my 07 2500 4x4 but not over (actual Cat scale weights) and am puylling an upgraded 33' 5er by Cedar Creek. (total weight loaded passengers, fuel water, dogs and cat 19680#, rated 20000#, axles are all under weight but truck rating is 9000# and I am at 9350 so slightly over there but again that is totally loaded with everything including the kitchen sink).
On to your original question, are you looking for the 5.9 or the 6.7. Think there are some good buys on the remailning 5.9's if you can find one. Mine was a 5.9 Big Horn edition, auto, 4x4 short box and after rebates etc $35500 with tax and all included, also included the spray in liner and running boards and dealer changing over my hitch and a few other items. Shop Dave Smith in Idaho to see what he still has, it's close for you and even if you don't buy from him you can get an idea of what is available and aprox price range but think whatever you buy in a 2500 will be in the $34-37 range.
Good luck

I would personally get rid of the gas and get the diesel when pullin' a large trailer. You will save your truck and fuel as well. I just bought a 2007 3500 4X4 drw lonestar edition w/ 6.7. MSRP $47,588 paid $37,000. Go with the big boy, the truck comes stock with a Jake break so it will help when your pulling the fifth wheel in the mountains or in the hill country. Good luck to you
Thanks everyone I appreciate the info and recommendations you gave me. By the way the new trailer, if we get it is not a 5th wheel. I know I could not put a 5ver with my ½ ton.
I’ll keep you posted on what I end up with, hopefully a new truck!!

When/where did you buy you truck. I was out looking yesterday and couldn't get any of the Dodge dealers to come off $10k for a SLT Quad 2500 6.7L Auto48RFE truck. I went to 2 dealars and called 3 in the Dallas area.

One of my local Dodge dealers has (3) 06' left (if you can believe this) SLT Quad 4x4 CTD and they are giving $13,000 off of MSRP. Also the remaining 07' 5.9 they are giving $6-7,000 off of MSRP. They want to make room and be able to put more 6.7's on the lot to sale. You can probably get another $1,000/$2000 off. Would imagine if they want to get them off the lot.

Our company just picked up a 6.7 3500 Laramie from Dave Smith's. Dealers in the Denver area did not have the exact truck we were looking for and were not willing to deal on the ones they did have. MSRP on the truck was $52,575, out the door we paid $42,176 including dealer handling and tinted windows. I found the truck searching the Dodge website, emailed them about it and said if they shot me their best price we'd buy it. Our salesman was Doc @ extension 1215. Hassle free and a great deal. If you're looking for a truck give him a call and tell him Kyle with Parker Trailers sent you.
Ram 3500 sticker'd at $43,400. Got it at $35k and got nerf bars thrown in. The Rage'n toy hauler 5th sticker'd at $48k. I got that for $36,500. In both cases, we made it very clear that we could walk away at any time. And we did once. We beat up that Dodge salesman pretty good. I kinda felt bad for him, kinda. But then I remember he's just a slimey salesman.
Im from Ft Worth and NO ONE would EVEN come close to the Dave Smith deal.. Im looking forward to writing up a full report to everyone on my buying experience when we pick up our truck the middle of next month. 9 of 10 dealers never called me back and the one that did gave up after two days of looking.... SO FAR, Dave Smith motors RULES!
Hey everyone,
Just got back. My wife and I decided to wait because the deals are just not there. Although when I left the local Dodge dealer I now have a message on my recorder from them saying they can deal for 2500 slt with a 6.7. I may call them and I may not. I wish they would of came up with something when I was there. But that’s there game.
I do believe we have to buy a truck first before the trailer. The one I have now is the everyday driver and I do not want to run it into the ground.
I think I’ll wait until some of the others dealers call me. I even emailed Dave Smith Motors to see what they come up with. It may be worth the drive.
Keep you posted if any thing changes.
Thanks
