Went over 100k yesterday

I started off yesterday morning with less than 100 miles to go to make it to 100,000 miles and finished the day with 100,410 miles. I cannot complain at all about my truck. I have had one round of trouble at 50,000 miles, a throttle control valve that was an intermittent problem and hard to find until it completely failed and set a hard code. Once it was replaced, I've had no other problems. The truck does everything I've asked of it, handling loads up to 35k gcvw regularly with no problems.

When I'm towing, between 9 & 11 mpg, depending on the load and wind. I very seldom run without the trailer which weighs 9820 lbs empty. With just the trailer it will get 12 - 13.5 depending on wind and speed. Both make a big difference. The few times I've run without the trailer any distance it has gotten between 15.5 & 16. I don't speed, the slower the speed, usually around 65, the mileage is several mpg better than 70.

Congrats on the milestone, EB290. At least you have around 79k miles left on the transmission warranty!

Could you elaborate on your maintenance.......brand of oil and oil & air filters, frequency of fuel filter changes, transmission service, etc. Did you by any chance record the engine hour meter readings at any of the maintenance events? What is your average mph?

I use Chevron Delo 400, the low ash one, Wix oil filters, air and fuel filters are from Dodge. I change the fuel filter every 15k and the air at 25k, depending on conditions. My "filter minder" has never moved since it was new so I change it when it looks dirty. Sorry, didn't ever check the hour meter, just went off miles. When I'm on the road, I try to stay around 65 mph. Fuel mileage runs between 9 and 11 loaded depending on load and conditions, 12 to 13 with just the empty trailer, (9800 lbs) and between 15 and 16 mpg with just the truck.

Sounds about right for what I am getting too. The wind seems to really knock my mileage down. At least until I got a bit smarter and dropped from 6th to 5th and cruised just over 60 mph. I have had to re-learn some of my driving habits when compared to the 5.9.
Nice news for the 6.7. I am at 30K now and the busy season is going to start after the new year.

Nice to see somebody posting about the positives of a 6.7 doing real work not building a toy/race truck. Hope mine works out as good as yours, my other 2 were good work trucks (1991 & 2001). My trucks spend alot of time under load 8000lbs empty to 26-28,000 loaded running mountain roads for both play and work. Even with my RV gear 20-21k gross and I dont expect any more than 10mpg, more than that it is a bonus for packing that much weight. PK

i bought my 07 with the g56 in feb. had alot of trouble with it from 10'000miles to 25'000. kept plugging the dpf and setting the check engine light. after taking it to the same dealer i bought it from 6 times(which is a huge very nice looking dealership) i took it to a little po dunk chrysler dealer and they downloaded what they called there bootleged program??? just turned over 50'000 and no more troubles. i pull a 32 foot double deck eby loaded with 900 12 to 14 pound pigs 3 days a week which gross's around 29'000, all around 320 to 480 mile trips a day. the trailer sucks alot of wind and the best ive seen for mileage is 10.5 but never under 9. i do know the generals from factory went bye bye on the rear extremely quick. switched to mastercraft coursers and there doing great.
between the exhaust brake and trailer brakes my truck brakes should last 100K

Great report EB. I'll bet you you're smiling everyday with that exhaust brake in front of you.

At only a thousand miles, I can add hauling trailers in rough country with this motor and tranny is a big improvement over my 5.9. Smooth and powerfull.
Still surprised seat of the pants MPG continues about the same maybe 1 MPG worse than my 06' 5.9.

No problems or gripes so far.
