Well, I have to say..........

I bought an 07.5 late last week. Its in my sig now and I have to say this is a **** fine driving truck. I've had a '92, '04 QC 6 spd, '98 12v 5 spd and an '01 QC LB auto. I've driven my dad's '10 CC short bed too. Now, of course this one drives closest to my '04 as far as ride and handling which is just fine with me. I actually like this body style better with the more compact cab and the slightly shorter wheelbase makes the truck feel a little snappier than my dad's crew--------if anything this heavy can feel snappy?! . I was actually looking to find either a clean 12v or a good swap candidate for one like an F250. This sort of jumped right up in my face----clean, low mile truck, right price. Glad I got it.

Looks as though the truck has an outstanding emissions recall I need to get addressed and what I thought looked like a mildly leaking master cylinder might actually be a power steering hose or something. After wiping it down and checking it again after a few days later, the fluid looks reddish under the master cylinder and the power steering reservoir is at the add mark. Any ideas? Guess I'll start checking fittings tomorrow.

Other than that, does anybody know what the deal is with the CEL coming on, staying on through several start/stop cycles and then going out? I feel deletes coming on.........

Had the recall re-flash done this afternoon. Must be a good one 'cause the mpg has been steadily going up ever since. I didn't think 16.5 (on the overhead) was right anyway but I'm up to 17.5 in less than 50 miles. I've had my foot in it a few times too so maybe it'll turn out ok. Seems we don't quite get as good down here around sea level.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to that very much. The folks at Parley's have been very helpful so far. I really miss the sound of my '04 6 speed which was straight piped with an Aero 4040 behind the downpipe. I may do the same thing again with an XL style one this time. Leaning towards H&S for the programmer

Congrats. I bought my 07.5 about a year and a half ago with 118K, and the CEL drove me nuts for about the first six months. Being out of warranty, it was "learn by doing training" with much advice from this forum. On the 2000 and up trucks you can check the stored codes using the key switch to display them on the odometer using the following method: 1. Insert key and unlock steering. 2. Turn key to the ON (not start) position three times, and leave on the third time. 3. Odometer will read a series of dashes for a few seconds, and then display any codes. If no code, reads DONE.
There are a couple of maintenance items that will reduce problems in both deleted and undeleted 6.7s. Use your exhaust brake as often as possible, pay special attention to your batteries and related connections, keep your MAP sensor clean, and before you shut down, give your turbo time to cool down. Took a while, but I can now say that this is the best truck I have ever owned. It takes me from 250 ft to sea level and back five times a week with mpg from 16 to 18 hand calculated. Overhead on mine reads 1 mpg high. Enjoy!
