The almighty buck has always had a play in it
BUT
I only wonder if just old school work ethics (pride) vs. the git it in and git out
way nowdays.

Folks just don't seem to take as much pride in their work as they
did yesteryear. I have lived in both eras.
If someone had to put his signature on his work for all to see, Do you
think that would help.

As my old man always said,,
"[expletive] boy, anything worth doing is worth

I hate you had a problem like that but I'm glad you caught it before you left the lot. With all the trouble they had doing an oil change can you imagine what your frustration would be like if they were doing an engine for you. Not happy my friend!!!

 

I had my oil changed at the dealers for several years when they only charged $45 or so. I never started the engine without first checking the oil and the filter for signs of a leak. They did have to detail the inside and under the hood a couple of times.

 

We had a 2000 3500 V-10 that had a front seal oil leak starting about a year after we bought it. It went in 4 times under warranty and they worked on it. It leaked literally less than a week after every time. Sold the truck in 2006 with it still leaking.

Not only do the oil change problems happen at dealerships. In 2002 my mom had her tahoe's oil changed at a local gas/service station. About a week later she's stuck in traffic in Austin and her CEL light comes on. She pulls over and pops the hood. The guy who changed the oil actually left an empty quart oil container on the intake manifold and it had melted to a sensor, causing the CEL to come on. Didn't hurt anything once we peeled the melted container off. They offered a few free oil changes, but I think she settled on $50. I usually change all our oil, but I was out of town that week and she had to have it done. Never again.
